The Battle at Darkwood

After the The Siege of Blackburn, the The Elladonian Army had marched for 3 months without any major incidents. It was on the edge of the Darkwood that they were surprised by Therian scouts. A short skirmish later the Therian scouts, outnumbered, fled the field. King Stormchaser gave the order to pursue them into the forest.
Here the Therian Army lay in wait. Multiple volleys of arrows decimated the Elladonian light cavalry, which already had enough problems in the difficult terrain that was the underbrush. A battle line was hastily drawn up, but to no avail. The Elladonians lost 2 men for each Therian they killed in an uphill battle, despite the smaller numbers of Therians. 5 hours of fierce fighting ended in an Elladonian retreat and a total of 3000 casualties distributed across both sides.
