The emperors Of the The Sanguine Imperium are the stuff of legend. Leading mankind in its eternal march into the great void, the heads of the Imperium have a massive duty that few if any other in history has bore. Though, there are those that have met undignified deaths, the emperors in general have went out in a fashion befitting of their office and personality. Amongst them however, a few do stand out still
Hans Alexander Christiansen was not even supposed to be the emperor. Being the penultimate child of his father, Hans spent comparatively less time in learning the art of statecraft from his father and others. Spending most of his time in sparring, learning and entertaining himself, he was rather unlike his peers, who even before ascending the throne were assisting their father in statecraft and administration
Yet, he was educated extensively still by his father and other family members, just in case something happened that left all the others in the grave. His father taught him every nook and corner of statecraft and the other subjects related to it whenever he had the time. It was a blessing for him as Hans learnt quickly, and it would later prove to be a blessing for the entire Imperium when that dark day came
After his entire family was massacred, Hans found himself in a situation few emperors had to face. He was barely 16, and had to take charge of the largest empire in history, all the while facing a renewed Argonite menace that threatened to conquer the empire his ancestors had built
And this was where his greatness lay. At a time when most were still learning the ropes of life, Hans was leading the Imperium from the forefront. It was his able leadership skills, as well as his connection to the common man that kept the Imperium alive at a time where most other nations would have disintegrated. Though the Imperium had suffered numerous defeats, the Argonites had to pay the price and much suffering was averted. Adding to this was Hans’ personal care for the citizenry of the Imperium. His fame rose overnight, catapulting him into the ranks of the legends among men
Throughout his reign, Hans has tried his best to be a kind and just ruler, and has achieved that too according to most. Constantly refusing to take Actions that would even remotely infringe on his people’s rights, Hans has gained fame for being a people oriented ruler. He even regularly interacts with those he sees on the streets, and his simple way of living has added more to his already high fame

Alas, Hans is not without his troubles. There are many that would want to see him dead, and as time passes, they grow in strength. The cult of Arkanos has been a massive thorn in the Imperium’s foot for a number of years, arising first during the last years of his fathers reign and growing even quicker than his fame during his rule. Despite leaving no stone unturned, Hans still struggles to contain the cult. With each passing day, his traumas deepen and new ones open. The cult strikes at the very heart of the Imperium, and for Hans, it is one of the many wars he has to fight. To protect the few remaining friends and family he has. With the ending of an age and the return of the destroyer imminent, Hans has to face an evil from his past and vanquish it as his empire crumbles before his very eyes

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Hans is a tall, lean and muscular young man in his early 20s. His identifying features are his waist length golden hair and icy blue eyes.

Body Features

Hans is clean shaven, and often takes note to shave as much as he can. He has a set of scars on the left side of his body, which was sustained when he was attacked by a wild lion.

Facial Features

Hans face has often been described like that of a Dasatirian lion, with a straight nose and well rounded cheeks. This more or less gives him a serious look all the time, and even when smiling, one may think that deep down, Hans is bursting with rage.

Identifying Characteristics

Perhaps Hans’ most striking feature is his long blonde hair. It has been described to be a golden mane, stretching down to his back. The other identifying features of Hand are his ice blue eyes, as well as the set of scars on his left shoulder

Apparel & Accessories

When not in combat, Hans wears a simple shirt and cloak, alongside a pair of trousers. During more formal occasions however, he can be spotted wearing a coat and more formal attire, whilst also carrying a number of knives and a falchion for self defence. If the situation requires it, Hans also wears a magical amulet, designed to protect him from arcane attacks

In battle, Hans has a plethora of equipment to aid in his endeavours, but he favours a few at all times. Whenever he is in combat, one can see him atop his Sanguinian steed, in a set of enchanted Darantium plate armor mixed in with many other metals and alloys and enchanted to resist the strongest of blows. His armor is also shock resistant, to better withstand the blows of Argonite infantry whose weapons can shatter normal armor like eggs.
The armor also comes with its own set of arcane enchantments that provide Hans with numerous abilities, including information about the environment and enhancing his arcane powers
On the offensive hand, Hans wields Turalian, a massive greatsword taller than most men. It is a venerable blade, having seen ten thousand years of combat and felling hundreds of thousands of foes. Yet, it remains sharp as the day it was forged and bays for the blood of mankind’s enemies. Hans has a special bond with the sword, and in private often even talks to it, believing that a part of his ancestors souls lie in it.
The blade is extremely potent, being able to easily cut through heavily armoured Argonite warriors. It’s lethality is augmented by the ancient fire enchantments imbued within in, which allows it to at times glow like the sun itself and literally melt through the armor of its foes. Hans takes great care of it when not in combat. It is unknown what metal this sword was forged from but what is known is that it is stronger than the armor he wears.

The day was calm and peaceful. Winter had just ended and the first flowers of spring were sprouting from their long slumber after the long winter. Though it was bone chilling compared to many other places in the Imperium at that time, it was perhaps the best that the inhabitants above the boreal circle could ask for. It was the 27th of Olvendris, in the 9978th year of the empire. It was the day, that a future emperor was born
Hans was the fifteenth child of his parents. Being so young freed him from many of the responsibilities that members of the royal family usually had. This had left him free to pursue other ventures and ensure that he would remain somewhat carefree till adulthood

Growing up

Education

Hans has a graduate degree and a master’s in economics and political science from the University of Sanguinia. Even during his reign, Hans has regularly attended his classes, acting like a normal student instead of using his position as privilege. However, he is rather disappointed that he doesn’t have the time to study more, and is always looking for a chance to enroll into a new programme at his favourite university

At the mere age of 16, Hans had taken the reins of the Imperium. The largest empire in history, consisting of all of humanity was under his hands, but it was not in good shape. The entire royal family had been massacred, save for one of Hans’ brothers and nephews. The Argonites had started a massive campaign, after hostilities renewed over their part in the attack. It was a situation that even the most experienced would have difficulty handling
And that was where Hans had stepped in. At that young age, he lead from the forefront, spreading messages of unity and hope to the Imperium. His manner of speaking was enchanting, and the masses were spellbound by the way he talked. They rallied to him, and he accepted them just like his own family members. This lead to a massive increase in morale all across the Imperium, with Hans continuously keeping the empire alive and defending against the Argonites
Hans has reinforced this with his public policy. As well as increasing investments in infrastructure, services and other works, Hans has taken key steps to improve the Imperium in every way possible, targeting the Scientific, technological and marine sectors in popular. Oftentimes, he visits the site of these works and even takes part in them to motivate the workers. His presence on the ground reality, as well as the intimate relationship he shares with the public propels them ever forward to work for the betterment of the Imperium. They love Hans and would give their life for them.
This is perhaps his single biggest achievement. One that continues to give him hope even during these dark times

Hans considers not attending to his guests extremely rude, and always takes measures to make sure that they are well fed and entertained. He believes that those who visit you are to be repayed for the troubles they incurred on the way, and as such Hans often takes extravagant measures to help anyone even if they do not need it

Hans' greatest desires are to serve his people to the best of his abilities, ensuring that they can continue to live a happy life and helping them out in any way possible. It gives him much happiness and motivation when seeing the outpourings of support the masses of the Imperium have for him, which gives him the extra push needed to get to his goals. It is because of this that Hans often refuses to take harsh decisions, even if they are for the good of his people in the long run
On a more personal note however, Hans is devoted to the care of his remaining family and friends, and always spends time with them whenever he can. It pains him whenever they are hurt in any way, and he would fiercely defend them from any and all threats. His relations with them grow deeper and stronger as the war and cultist rebellion rages on, with them providing a glimmer of sanity and hope for him when even his own people start turning against him

Hans is good at debating, having a knack for catching his adversaries off guard with comebacks which he thinks of for a long time. During his time at the university, Hans was an avid debater, arguing about many topics like the importance of science, and politics as well as current affairs. His debating had earnt him the name "Loudmouth" At the university as well
Asides from this, Hans has a heavy interest in reading, especially speculative fiction and scientific books. Oftentimes, he can be found reading a fantasy book alongside his close friend Victoria Elnara Astridsson, and they often discuss about various topics related to the genre. However, fiction is not the only thing Hans reads. Due to his taste in science and technology, he often reads scientific journals and articles, and if an idea catches his eye, he funds it to develop into a full fledged project

As the emperor, Hans is arguably the most powerful person in the entire Imperium. It is not only the powers of his office that grant him this, but the enormous amount of contacts he has across the world. It is said that there are even Argonites and Horcs amongst his affiliates, constantly spying on their own nations and bringing him crucial information
Hans also maintains a close relation with the University of Sanguinia. It’s chancellor , Rayner Nilsson is an especially noted friend of his, and has helped him in numerous situations even after his graduation from the university.

Religious Views

Hans is a member of the Sanctus Borealis , a branch of the Sanctus Divinatus faith that focuses on the worship of Regulus, the god of light and Aurora, the goddess of dawn. He is however, syncretic due to one of his ancestors being a Hendi. Adding to that is his Arvallian heritage, and even if he is not a practicing member, Hans has close associations with the church of the great mother

Hans is known to be extremely good at public speaking, to the point that all eyes are on him even before he begins to speak. His charismatic aura is further enhanced by his tall stature and personal relationships with the people. Even if he is somewhat afraid or anxious, Hans can usually hide it for a certain amount of time.
In less formal sitautions, Hans is usually seen eating or simply walking around, thinking about various topics. Indeed, when he has free time and nothing else to do, Hans usually walks around his room or the outside, thinking of various things. If he gets tired, he will often sit down and keep thinking more, which can often go into hours.
