Victoria Elnara Astridsson (a.k.a. Strid, Vic, Astri.)
"Am i going alone then?" "Indeed. And by alone, i mean you will only have one other person to accompany you" "And who may that be?" "She's behind you" Hans sadi with a smile Maximillian turned back, finding that his childhood friend was there. She stood with her arms crossed, her massive greatsword slung on her back as she gave him a wry smile "I think i won't require anything else" Maximillian Christiansen, seeing Astrid after a long time when departing for the @BloodmoonMany tales are told in rhe Imperium's taverns about brave heroes. Amongst them lie the deeds of various groups, such as The Undead Legion, The Boreal Legion and the Boreal Chevaliers to name a few. Sometimes, the tales are blown out of proportion and talk about how a single man had once slain thousands of Argonites all by himself. It is truly impossible for no matter how brave and strong a human may be, his Argonite counterparts are at least thrice as strong Astrid's tale however, is anything but a lie. Rising from an orphaned girl to becoming the youngest commander of the Boreal Chevaliers, Astrid's young life has been marked by many achievements and downfalls. From her killing an Argonite field marshal at the ripe age of 21 to leading the Boreal Chevaliers on many victories, Astrid has begun to achieve what few have in history. Her tales may not be mythical, but it will be the most foolish thing to say, for she has the heart of a lion and has proven to be a valiant commander in the battlefield Though valiant, Astrid is deeply paranoid and afraid of many things, amongst which lie the fear of losing her loved ones and the fright of Argonites, which may just be equal to her hate of them. Astrid carries many burdens on her back, with the loss of her parents and one of her best friends in a mutiny by the legionnaires being the heaviest. Her paranoia often makes it difficult for people to interact with her deeply and as such, whilst she has many admirers, the numbers of those who would rather see her dead are high as well. With the ending of this age, Astrid too has been afflicted by the corruption spreading across the world. She has repeated nightmares of a strange being known only as "The Void" who comes to taunt her with past traumas. Newer burdens, such as the brutal murders of many Boreal Chevalier commanders fall upon her and already, she can smell that the next person in their sights is her. She suspects the Order of Morthen, a reclusive group of ice mages that live in the Rilvartide mountains of the murder, but it will be difficult for her to prove her convictions. Past traumas return to haunt her alongside new ones, and most of all, she may just see the few friends and last bits of her sanity fall apart if she fails to act quickly

"I have to say one thing" "And what may that be?" "Your hair was gifted by the gods themselves" Maximillian Christiansen, complimenting AstridPerhaps the most signifying feature of Astrid is her long, flowing red hair and her golden eyes. Many remark that her red hair signifies her fiery temper, as well as her bravery and passionate nature. Whilst there are many important figures with the same hair colour as her, Astrid often stands out due to her immense height.

Astrid cleaved through the cultists alongside him, her fury relentless like the lion knights she fought asides. Maximillian stole looks at her whenever he could and everytime, he saw that she was either cleaving a cultist in two with her greatsword, or burning one with her pyromancy. He now truly knew why they called her the beast of Arvallia" Maximillian Christiansen, remarking on Astrid's combat skillsAs a highly trained knight, Astrid has remarkable skills in combat and her equipment is second to none. During battle, she wears a set of magically enchanted plate armor, made from Darantium and various other metal alloys. The armor is shock absorbant, thereby allowing her to survive falls that would normally be fatal and decreasing the effectiveness of blunt weapons against her. For combat, Astrid uses the ancient greatsword Thurvand, allegedly forged by the mythical fire giant Surtag. The sword has a rare enchantment which allows it to radiate both cold and heat, thereby allowing Astrid much more flexibility in combat. The heat generated by it rivals that of the sun, and can cut through any non enchanted armor known to man. Astrid also carries numerous other pieces of equipment to help her. She always has a few healing flasks to restore her health, as well as bombs which she can lob from a range. When bombs won't suffice, she usually pulls up a crossbow fitted with explosive bolts to engage her enemies from afar, which is aided by her helmets vision enhancing capabilities. Her enchanted armor also allows her to monitor her health, so long as the arcane energies powering it do not run out. This gives her an extra advantage, as she can know when to retreat from the battlefield

Personal history
The Beginnings
"Mother, why are you crying?" "I have you. That's why" A conversation between Astrid and her motherVictoria Elnara Astridsson was born to Fiorana Lindholm, a werewolf and mercenary from Tenebria and her Arvallian husband Alvar on the last day of Occultaran in 9973. It was a calm and peaceful autumns day, and the gentle breeze heralded the arrival of a new soul to this world. She was to be the only child of her parents, as they had little time to raise another one Astrid spent the first few years of her life travelling across the Imperium, due to the nature of her parent's professions. Eventually however, they settled down for a while in a quiet town in the Arvallian countryside. Hot tempered and adventurous, Astrid was often found playing violent games with other children, and could easily beat men that were twice her age in arm wrestling. Those who managed to best her in combat, or show signs of bravery however were quick to learn that beneath her hot tempered being, a softer side lied. She didn't have much to show asides from her adventurousness and ability to fight, and thus she was sometimes bullied for her supposed lack of intelligence
Losing the source
"Mother" Her chest ripped open just as she was about to reach her. Astrid was numb. She was gone. She looked up from her mother's corpse to her killer, an Argonite man in his baroque obsidian armor. His helmet was off and his bow was in his hands. Their eyes met, and deep inside, Astrid felt something tug inside her soul. She finally let out a scream before running away Astrid, recalling the death of her motherEventually, the two would have to endure some harsh times as their father was sent to the frontlines. Not wanting to be separated from her husband, Fiorana also took Astrid but kept her in the company of one of her father's relatives, who happened to live in the kingdom that the Argonites were attacking. The two then departed, promising to their daughter that they'd be back soon Months passed, and Astrid missed her parents dearly. She wanted to see them badly. Her chances came as the Argonites supposedly retreated. With the consent of their superiors, Astrid's parents were allowed to meet their daughter. She went with her uncle to the camp where they were living, and Astrid was elated to see her parents again after almost half a year It was then that the arrows began raining. More like javelins, the arrows skewered many that were around that time, but luckily, her parents were unharmed. The four decided to escape and abandon camp, as the Argonite force was revealed to be too strong for them to handle without reinforcements. Astrid was afraid. She had heard stories about the Argonites but this was the first time in her life that she was seeing them with her own eyes As they evacuated, the group were suddenly faced with a massive Argonite in front of them. It's baroque armor and insignia signified that it was no ordinary soldier. It looked at them for a moment, perhaps being shook by the sight of a child, which gave enough time for Astrid's father to unsheathe his glaive and strike him. The Argonite easily parried the strike, before punching him in the chest and sending him flying. Fiorana rushed to her husband to help him, and told Astrid to run. She obliged, running as fast as her legs could carry her away from the battlefield After losing her relative in the midst of an argonite charge, Astrid roamed around. She was afraid. Where were her mother and father? She kept running aimlessly, and it soon took her to a large clearing There, she saw the sliced corpse of her father. Astrid screamed in terror. Her screams alerted her mother, who turned from a corner and rushed at her. Just as she was about to embrace her daughter, Fiorana's chest erupted, an arrow coming through. Astrid felt numb now. She looked at her mother, who had died to protect her child, before looking up at her killer. It was that same Argonite, in his baroque armor, a bow in his hand. He stared at her, as if he did the biggest crime of his life by taking a child's parents right before his eyes The Argonite advanced. What he did here was a crime that Aurelian wouldn't forgive. They were involved in a war against mankind itself, but nothing could justify the murder of a child's parents before her own eyes. He wanted to escort her to safety, but were interrupted as a group of soldiers burst through and resuced Astrid. The last thing she saw before turning back was him looking at her, as if feeling remorse for his actions
Growing up at the palace
You remember those times right? "Why wouldn't I?" Astrid asked "It was a long time ago. Most people tend to forget things in a short time" "I would have too. Had it not been for you" She smiled Astrid, talking to Maximillian about her days in the Imperial PalaceAfter losing her parents, Astrid was taken in by some of her relatives who had served as guards in the Imperial palace. Emperor Axel had personally heard about Astrid and decided to let her live in the Imperial palace, even going so far as to let her play with his own children. It was a monumental occasion for Astrid. She never knew that such a person like her would be able to even meet, let alone live with the very leaders of mankind Astrid's time at the Imperial palace was marked by loneliness for the first few years. Her companions were few and they were usually busy with statecraft. Yet, she enjoyed her time in the gardens, drawing pictures of the trees and birds and just sitting in the calm shade of the trees. Axel was incredibly kind to her and often allowed her to sit in dinner with him and his family. This sparked a trust between Astrid and Hans that would endure many turbulences Her life was changed when a young child called Maximillian was born. He was the first son of Kristoff, The king's eldest son and thus his first grandchild. Astrid held the young Maximillian in her arms, and for some reason, felt a close connection to him. It would be of much importance for them many years later, as Maximillian grew up to be her closest friend. Astrid stayed for over a decade at the Imperial palace, completing her education in a nearby school. It was a pleasant surprise to her to find out that Maximillian was one of her classmates, and they often sat together. Maximillian was one of the few people who fully understood her, and shared her love of creating and nature. He also defended her from anyone coming to bully her, and this further brightened her opinions about him
Joining the Chevaliers
"Max, i'm sorry. I am so sorry" Astrid wiped the tears flowing down her face as she bid farewell to her closest friendAt the age of 18, having just graduated from college and nearing her time for conscription, Astrid had an encounter with a boreal chevalier. He inspected her for a while, before handing her a book and telling her that she would one day grow up to be a great warrior. Astrid spent most of her remaining time reading and researching about the boreal chevaliers. She took as much information as she could, often questioning those who had served or were serving in the order. After a few weeks, she made up her mind to join the chevaliers. She bid farewell to her relatives, and promised Maximillian that she would come and meet him whenever she could, before tearfully taking leave from her closest friend Astrid then journeyed across the continent, to the main fortress of the chevaliers high in the Rilvartide mountains. Though she was accompanied by many, the journey was not easy as winter had almost set in, leading to bone chilling temperatures and blizzards across the lands. After a long journey, they arrived in the fortress at last. Astrid gave her information and registered herself as a recruit, thus beginning her career as a knight
Training and first battles
During her training period, Astrid had made many friends and they helped her in going through the ordeal. Their training was harsh, sparring in biting cold without much rest for hours at a stretch. Yet, Astrid excelled in these exercises and had already left a good impression on her trainers. During her training, she also learnt to control her anger to an extent, reserving it for the time it was needed. In the intellectual sphere, Astrid wasn't prodigal but her ability to work with whatever resources availiable and getting out of virtually impossible situations made her trainers very impressed with her After she had finished training, Astrid was formally commissioned as an officer in the ranks of the Boreal Chevaliers. It was a monumental occasion for her. She had heard stories about her parents about these brave knights who could face Argonites on their own, and even multiple of them without needing any help. She never imagined herself becoming one of them, and thus it was an honourable day for her Though Astrid had a rocky start in her career, she soon developed a reputation for being brave and able to sacrifice. On one occasion, she personally left her group to help a number of soldiers evacuate, being heavily wounded in the fight by the Argonites. This would mark the start of a series of distinctions she earnt, the highpoint of which would be the battle of ArtavirBattle of Artavir
"You... It's impossible" "Look for yourself sir." She tossed the head of the field marshall at his feet" Astrid, presenting proof of the field marshall's death to her superiorsIt was 9993. The Imperium had taken back most of their territories held by the Argonites for decades beforehand. Yet, in the highlands of Eastern Vadran, the stronghold of Artavir held out. Manned by over three hundred thousand Argonites, felling the fortress was not going to be easy. A force consisting of millions of human soldiers assembled at the battlefield. Both sides waited anxiously, trying to bait the other into an attack that would deplete their strength before launching a powerful counterattack. Months passed, and the humans finally gave in to the temptation. The first assault was carefully planned, so as to make sure that if the Argonites were not defeated, they would at least suffer heavy casualties It was a bloodbath for humanity. Few survived the first assault, and over half a million soldiers died at the cost of only forty thousand Argonites. Though over a tenth of their force was killed, the Argonites were bolstered with reinforcements and launched a massive counterattack against the human positions It was here that Astrid had her greatest achievement as a Boreal Knight. Riding together with her comrades, she was sent to blunt the attack before it reached the human lines and buy them time. The two armies clashed with each other, limbs being render and heads being taken off. Astrid was knocked off her horse by the field marshall, before he himself was jumped upon by a dismounted Chevalier, meeting his end a few seconds afterwards but not before taking the horse down The two then engaged in battle. The marshal was impressed by Astrid's bravery, but she was no match for him. Here was a man with centuries of combat experience. What would a young human do to him? He eventually knocked her down, before removing her helmet to see who she was. He was surprised that it was a girl, barely into adulthood who had given him such a tough fight. The marshal was considering sparing her, before she plunged her sword right into his heart Astrid rose up, her sword covered in the blood of a venerable warrior. She rushed at him, but he countered her attacks as she tried to finish him off. The Argonite took out a dagger and stabbed her, before trying to rend her in half with his glaive at a close range. Astrid ducked underneath, and before he could react, Sliced him in half and decapitated him. The Argonites guarding Artavir were left demoralised, especially after hearing about who had killed their leader, and thus, this lead to the capture of the city, the expulsion of the Argonites from Hendis and what seemed to be the stage for a long lasting peace
The Mutiny
"If you lay a hand on her i swear... "What? What'll you do?" "Just do it and see" "The traitor didn't say another word as he impaled Kari on his sword, before ripping her in two" Astrid, recollecting her experiences of the mutinyAfter the gigantic achievement in Artavir, Astrid's fame increased tremendously. But with it, came many enemies too. There were those that wanted to see her dead, and they would do everything to make sure that it happened. Their conspiratical efforts would culiminate in the chevaliers mutiny A few days had barely passed since Emperor Axel alongside most of his family were assasinated. Whilst the rest of the Imperium were busy mourning, Astrid had little time. She was busy doing her routine work, whilst also mourning in private the loss of the person who had been like a second father to her. Kari was always there to comfort her, and Astrid loved being in her company Later in the evening, Astrid heard sounds of a struggle outside her room. At first, she shrugged it off as one of the knights getting drunk and fighting their roommate, but the sounds kept continuing. She investigated, and found that the room was covered in blood, with its occupants being rended carcasses. Astrid left to inform her superiors, and on the way met another knight who said that the fortress was under attack, and that her supervising officer was leading it. Astrid could scarcely believe it, arguing with him for a time before a few other knights came and confirmed the matter. She quickly went to put on her armor and assisted in saving as many people she could, before heading into the deeper reaches of the fortress to root out the renegades and save those inside At one point, she encountered her friend Kari, fighting against the renegade instructor. Distracted by Astrid's arrival, Kari ran towards her friend, only to be impaled from the back and torn in half. Astrid's being was broken. The one person who had kept her company during all her internal and external battles was gone, torn in two by a vile traitor whom she had also trusted. She sank to her knees, tears raining down her face as she accepted her fate. The renegade moved forward, accompanied by something else. Astrid looked up and saw that it was him. The Argonite who had killed her parents. He had recently broken out of prison, and had supposedly killed the royal family as well. The remnants of logic inside her told her to run and inform the others, but she had accepted her fate. She had no one left, and this was her destiny Suddenly, she found herself back in that field where her parents were murdered. But instead of them, another being was standing there. It was Maximillian, who called out to her and told her to not give up. He embraced her and told her that she was a brave woman, and ought to die fighting. Shaken by his words, Astrid broke free and plunged the sword into the heart of the turncoat, before slicing him in half in the same way he did Kari. She then fought the Argonite, but he was too strong and had she not been discovered by the others, she would have suffered the same fate as her close friend
The years ahead
"Look Ast. There's nothing else we can do. You've already avenged her. The least you can do now, is to live on. After all, wouldn't she be upset if your life was cut off so early?" Maximillian Christiansen, talking to Astrid in the aftermath of the mutinyThe next few years would be extremely hard for Astrid. Having lost most of her close friends, she didn't want to serve anymore for a while. Eventually, after being comforted by Maximillian, she had regained her composure. The result was her skyrocketing through the ranks of the Chevaliers, leading numerous battles after being promoted

Rise to Power
"The Argonites have taken everything. They have taken our lands, our people, our loved ones and everything else we hold near and there. So many have died at their vile hands. But mark my words brothers and sisters. This act will not go unpunished. On this day, we shall show them the true fury of humanity!" Victoria, giving a speech to her subordinates before a battle with the ArgonitesAstrid joined the Boreal Chevaliers as an officer at the age of 21. Since then, her service record has been exemplary, with her achievements easily surpassing what someone would expect from her. In the first few years of her service, she fought in numerous battles against the Argonites, including the battle of Artavir, in which her feat of killing an Argonite chief marshall led to the the last Argonite stronghold in the Hendis subcontinent falling, resulting in their expulsion from these lands after decades of occupation Astrid's darkest moment, and perhaps the most significant one in her life came during the assault on the Chevalier's main camp in 9995. Only a day had passed since Emperor Axel and almost his entire family were assassinated in their own homes. Whilst the rest of the Imperium mourned, Astrid was still anxious whether her childhood friend Maximillian had survived or not. She would be comforted by her longtime friend Kari, who assured her that he was most likely alive as he was recovering from a disease at a hosiptal at the time of the attack. Being one of the few people she could wholeheartedly trust, Astrid agreed with her and left for doing her other duties throughout the day. It was then that the carnage began. What started as muffled cries erupted into screams as the entire base bore the bloodbath that descended upon it. Astrid put on her armor as soon as she could and assisted in saving the others. Her actions here were widely celebrated as well. But the loss of her friend Kari and many others she had grown close to would haunt her for the rest of her life, alongside increasing her trust issues manifold due to her trusted instructor turning renegade. The next few years would be brutal. Astrid had to fight mostly alone, with a renewed Aegean empire at the doors of the Imperium. She fought in the deserts of Regulia, on the shores of the great lake Ithurus and even was on the ill fated isle of Lordaran, leaving shortly before the Aegean empire razed it to the ground. With the death of the previous Lord Commander, there were a lot of rumours as to who would be the next. Many thought that Astrid would be chosen for the job, given her decorative career and budding leadership skills. They were proven true and on the 31st of Occultaran, 9999, Astrid was chosen as the Lord commander of the boreal chevaliers
Accomplishments & Achievements
"Let this be a warning to these filthy spawn. Whoever burns our lands and people, will meet their ends like this" Astrid, after killing an Argonite field marshallIn her short career, Astrid has managed to add numerous achievements to her being. From killing high ranking Argonite officers to holding the lines whilst being outnumbered, Astrid's achievements are many in this regard. What has truly earnt her respect and fame across the Imperium however, is her killing of Argonite Field Marshall Ardvan Lorthan. During the battle of Artavir, in the highlands of Eastern Vadran, the Argonites had heavily fortified the city and the surroundings. They were high on morale, as Artavir was a veteran of many battles and had experience on his side. Despite outnumbering the Argonites almost ten to one, the battle would be bloody for the Imperium It was here that Astrid had the greatest achievement of her life. When Lorthan personally lead the counterattack against the Imperial forces, Astrid rode with her other knights, catching the Argonite army off guard. The resulting clash saw many of the senior argonite as well as human officers killed and even resulted in Astrid almost losing her head as she ducked underneath an Argonites glaive. She fell the rider in one strike, before turning her attention to Lorthan. He had just finished off one of her comrades with his massive glaive, before turning his attention to her Not wasting a moment more, Astrid rode at full force towards the marshall. Her horse was killed by a searing blast of heat released by Lorthan as a testament to his magical skills. In the ensuing duel, Astrid managed to best the field marshall before cleanly slicing his body in half and beheading him. Due to their leader and most of the senior leadership being killed in the failed counterattack, the Argonite defenses faltered and thus, Artavir was liberated. With it, came the liberation of the Hendis subcontinent after decades of occupation by the Argonites
Failures & Embarrassments
"Pfft. You call yourself a saviour. You couldn't even save her" "Get the fuck away!" Astrid's mind twitched as she was taken back to that day. When she saw her closest friend lying in a pool of bloodPerhaps the biggest failure that Astrid considers to be in her life is her not being able to save her friend
Mental Trauma
"Astrid I..." "Astrid embraced him, burying her head in his shoulders. He was the only one she had, the only one who could purge her mind of these memories coming back to haunt her"Though she may look happy, Astrid carries many burdens on her mind. Every now and then, the trauma of losing her parents and most of all, some of her best friends comes back to haunt her. It is made worse during her combat experiences, when the cults begins to use her own memories against him. She often has breakdowns and cries in private, afraid of ruining her image as a brave person.
Morality & Philosophy
"You... Why did you come for me?" "Because no man should be left alone. And..." She didn't finish the sentence as she helped Maximillian up, smiling at him as she did soOne of Astrid's core tenets is that no man should be left alone, nor should they carry any more than they can. Astrid often strives to the best to relieve the burden of others, be it physical or mental and helps them in whatever way they can. This is rather ironic, considering that she has chronic anger and trust issues.

She wants to be remembered for her heroic deeds, for her bravery and contribution to mankind. Yet, there is something far more valuable to her. She wants to fight her inner demons alongside someone she can trust. It is one of the few things that keep her for going on. This also gives rise to her protective nature for the few people she can trust, and she will give her life if need be to ensure that her friends are not hurt

Lord Commander of the Boreal Chevaliers Hakarn Vildberg, being informed about Astrid's victory against the Field marshallAstrid is known to be incredibly brave, not backing down even under the heaviest of pressures. She will always throw herself at the front of the fight, ravaging through the ranks of her enemies or standing her ground against nigh invulnerable tides. This increases to an astronomical level if there is any danger to her loved ones. It was Astrid's bravery that won the Imperium the battle of Artavir, putting more pressure on the Argonites and thereby allowing for a long needed lull in the war. Asides from her bravery, Astrid is noted to be extremely resourceful, always using the best of what she has. Though she prefers to work with sufficient resources, she can adapt to the conditions if need be. Her ingenious tactics have often taken quite a toll on Argonites, who are left dumbfounded as to how humans can beat them on an uneven footing

History
When Maximillian was born, Astrid had held him in her arms. She knew not why, but she felt a certain affection towards the boy, who would grow to become the most intimate partner she had Astrid saw Maximillian grow before her very eyes. They would often play together in the gardens, and he would help her in everything ranging from creative endeavours to encouraging her. When they were of appropriate age, the two began to spar as well, deepening their already close bonds When she was 18, Maximillian was still a young schoolboy. Astrid bid a tearful farewell to Max, before leaving for joining the Boreal Chevaliers. The next time they would meet was during her commissioning ceremony, in which Maximillian was inspired by Astrid to become a great warrior. Astrid would pay the price back when attending Maximillian's commissioning ceremony, and the two even fought together for a short while on the battlefields When she lost most of her close friends during the Chevalier's mutiny, It was Maximillian who came to comfort her. Even though he had lost most of his family less than a week before, he still came to Astrid to make her feel a bit better. Astrid was surprised at this. Despite losing his family, he prioritised her over anything else. He said that he had just lost his close ones as well, and wanted to make the times a bit better for someone like him. It was perhaps this incident which sparked a deeper interest in him. Their relationship would only get better, gradually developing into a secretly romantic one which both of them were afraid to admit.
Relationship Reasoning
One of the key drivers of their relationship is the closeness they feel to each other. Astrid often remarks that Maximillian is a male version of her. Both have many commonalities, including losing parents at a premature age, nearly dying in battle and worse, being subject to torment by their enemies. It is in this shared sorrow and pain that they realize how similar they are, and help each other out.
