Alfredo library
The library is west of the office and northeast of the stairs.
Entries
The entrance doorway is in the middle of the south wall. It is kept closed when unoccupied, and may be locked from inside when one of the Alfredo Siblings is in there.
There is one window facing north. It has a padded bench-style window seat set into it, and a two-level shelf is built into the underside of the seat for "frivolous" novels -- usually lurid tales of adventure and naughtiness. The heavy curtains with their metal threads mixed into thick wool are usually kept closed, but since they cross the space even with the bookshelves, the window seat is always between those curtains and the window.
Contents & Furnishings
A six-section bookshelf fills the west perimeter from the exterior wall to less than twenty feet from the great atlas's corner. A matching pair of three-section bookshelves on the east perimeter flank a shallow fireplace meant more for lighting than for warmth. In the center of the room is a rectangular Zarabanga carpet from his Purple Cabbage period, atop which is a large low-lying table suitable for spreading out maps.
In the entire room are only two plush chairs, dyed to match the heart of the carpet. They are usually kept one in each of the two south corners in the room. A single freestanding lamp is near the southeast chair, capable of either being loaded with oil or of holding a Continual Light stone chip.
Special Properties
The fireplace is more likely to have jarred candles in it for lighting purposes than a proper fire, since it can really only hold five prairie coals at a time.
