Bayhold, Port of Pleasure

I would avoid Bayhold if I was you, den of debauchery that place is. Sure they swear fealty to our good queen, but I bet their true loyalties lie in their loins.
— Uassan Bildgow, fisherman
The port town of Bayhold is the largest of the port towns within the Twin Bays, and Sjokung Hlugar rules the region with a loose hand. As long as he sees his coin, and has enough to give to the crown, he does not care how it is obtained. So, while the port is famous for its bountiful waters for the nearby fishermen, it is also famous for its unscrupulous nature. So naturally it is a tourist destination.
Bayhold welcomes its boats into their port with a massive statue to the founder of Bayhold, Sjokung Hladi, the current Sjokung's grandfather. The town is split into two large sections, Seagate and Crowridge. Seagate is where the majority of the working folk, fisherman, and navy make their homes. Crowridge is further inland, and is where the money moves. Within this district there is a modest arena for fights and races, a plethora of taverns and bars, green leaf dens, and of course Cela's Road. The Sjokung makes his home overlooking all of the city in a modest palace.
Government: The town is ruled by Sjokung Hlugar, a salty stonekin who spent much of his younger years on a boat. The people say he enjoys his drink a little too much, and consorts from Cela's Road find their way into home often. However, he is seen as a strong man and he doesn't hesitate to meet a threat on the field (or sea) of battle. The rumor is his slightly green skin comes from an ancestry to one of the water races.   Defense: Bayhold is home to the second largest Naval forces in the region. Second to Aldhon, at least that is until the Skjollir blockade wracked the city. There is an active city watch, and a small battalion of 50 soldiers from the crown to aid with any bandit activity or wandering monsters in the region.   Commerce: Since Bayhold is the large port in the region, all necessary supplies and amenities can be found here. The majority of the townsfolk are honest fisherman trying to make a living to supply the debauchery in the Crowridge.   Organizations: There is a small temple to Yera, and her daughter that watches over the sea Yenna. There are also places of worship to Ikol, that serve mostly as gambling houses or other places of entertainment. There is a well established crime organization, however there is evidence that they fall under the rule of the Sjokung.

Life at Sea

Serving on a vessel is seen as a right of passage for any citizen of Bayhold. If you call the city home and you have not spent any time on a boat you are often treated as a second class citizen. The people here believe in working hard at sea, and playing hard on land. The people of Bayhold have developed peaceful relationships with the cultures of the sea, learning which waters belong to the Ackryda. Even still small skirmishes occur for the Ackryda are a proud people.

Geography

Bayhold lies on the western ridge of the peninsula that splits the Twin Bays. The summers are relatively warm and while the winters do get cold, the waters do not freeze enough to prevent travel. The bay protects the settlement from much of the violet waves that come from the south, and the waters that surround Bayhold are actually quite calm. Bayhold is broken up into two districts: Seagate clings to the sea while Crowridge sits just above to the east.

Seagate

Dockman's Leisure: A small tavern that caters to the honest dockworkers of the city. Firend serves a modest drink and has some rooms for rent for weary travelers.   Sully's General: A grizzled human, that goes by Sully, runs this store. Most common items can be found here, and he is always quick to tell a story to visitors.

Crowridge

Sukir's Den: Sukir, a wily half sea elf, is the owner of this establishment. She is known for being able to gather the best green leaf from the sea and host the best rooms for dice and cards. Not to mention private rooms.   Sjokung Arena: This arena lies astride the Sjokung's estate and houses many different events to bring the city together. There are rumbles for any individual looking to fight, yearly games including feats of strength, spectacles put on by local performers, and much more.   Cela's Road: This district, or street really, is home to a number of bordellos that cater the varies needs of the people in Bayhold. The poorest sailor, or richest aristocrat can find comfort here. For an extra fee, they may even accompany you into the rest of the town for an evening. The legendary Cela is said to manage all of the bordellos here, but she has never been seen in public. The people of Bayhold know implicitly to respect the denizen's of Cela's Road. Visitors who disrespect them however, are often never heard from again.

Bayhold Adventures

Hit the Road Mack (any level) One of the escorts from Cela's Road approaches you after you become more known within the town. Their current client is not from Bayhold, and has disrespected them a number of times. They do not want to let word get back to Cela since it isn't that big of a deal, and she only wants the behavior fixed.   That's no wave (high level) The leviathan of southern sea has broken his bondings and has cut a bloody swath across the ocean directly to Bayhold. You must discover what he seeks there and try to put an end to the great beast.
