The Gallows Keeper
The Gallows Keeper is a minor deity that is mostly followed by the people of the Gallowheart Wilds.
The Gallows Keeper is believed to be based on the mythos of the Rikhross, but then evolved into a deity in his own right. He is depicted as a tall, thin individual with flowing black robes and elongated arms, riding a dark, almost skeletal horse with red eyes. He wears a hood but bits of long auburn hair can be seen peeking out. He also wears reddish furs and bone accessories.
The Gallows Keeper is believed by some Rikhross and by the Wildlings of the Great Root tribes to be a humanoid incarnation of Ratatosk, the squirrel who lives on the World Tree. He never seems to get off his horse.
He is accompanied by 3 women who walk (or some say float) beside him. They are called the Gallowmaids and each carry an implement of the Gallows Keeper, one carries a bowl, one carries a wand, and the last one carries a dagger. It is said that some of the people who have seen the Gallows Keeper themselves have seen him flipping or playing with a silver coin.
It is believed that if a woman sees the Gallows Keeper or one of his Gallowmaids, and if she offers a certain prayer to him in old Reuda, she will be blessed with prophecy and potentially can become a Bladvolva (or Cardseer in Common).
