Clan Gatekeeper

Clan Gatekeeper is one of the new clans forged in the fires of the Wingo Rebellion and the establishment of Valtkos Wingo. Created thanks to the service of its family head, Segrurm Rustbreath, both he and his family took on their new name, awarded by King Dalmus himself. They are currently charged with the upkeep and maintenance of Lexin Keep, particularly in the wardenship over the prisons beneath and the protection of the border with the Lewite Tribe. Some of the prisoners date back to dangerous thus and murderers from Alsonan rule, but others are those who have resisted the new dwarven order in the region. The clan remains dedicated to their task, and have absorbed multiple other dwarven families and human employees to aid in the mission.

Structure

The organization of Clan Gatekeeper has diverged greatly from the workings of the old strongholds in the Apps Mountains. Although at the core of the clan is the patriarch and his immediate family, the duties of the group are such that they need more and more hands and personnel for their goals and objectives. Dozens of other dwarven families and hundreds of human conscripts and workers are direct members of Clan Gatekeeper. They are typically organized into smaller organizations, headed up by dwarves loyal to the patriarch. The core family is the leading force behind the clan and act as the heads of any expeditions, outposts, or projects that take place within Lexin Keep and the surrounding region.

Public Agenda

Clan Gatekeeper is best known for calling for higher security along the borders and within the towns of Valtkos Wingo. They advocate for greater enforcement of laws throughout the kingdom, to help preserve order and prevent Alsonan or Tenashi hiding. They have also taken an aggressive approach towards the Lewite Tribe, which they describe as a future lethal threat to the kingdom. Gatekeeper is one of the most warmongering and authoritarian clans within the kingdom, likely derived by the need for prisoners for labor within Lexin Keep and the construction of defenses along the southern border.

Assets

Clan Gatekeeper has ample assets to its name, including its own armed forces, assigned to protect the southern borders of the nation. They also maintain possession of Lexin Keep, which had been taken nearly intact from the kingdom of Alsona during the Wingo War. The prisons underneath have become the primary source of funding and support from the capital, allowing them to continue financing the expansion of tunnels and chambers underneath the old human fortress. For the most part however, they are often short on lucre, as the clan requires most of its money for paying employees and day to day maintenance and supply of the keep.
