Guardian Mayor Elias Jakson
Elias Jakson is the eldest son of the current Emperor, Allen Jakson. During his childhood, he was pressured by his father to follow in his footsteps into the Imperial Navy or Marines, but he instead was able to choose a different path. He became highly interested in the use of magic, fascinated by its capabilities in improving life and the in the philosophies behind it. Starting at age twelve, he was admitted into the Imperial University, where he spent the next ten years studying magic and its uses. He was officially declared a wizard, and took a specialty into abjuration magic. His interest in books and learning served him well, but the call of his family and House Jakson could not be denied.
He left the Imperial University and sought out a chance to put the theories he had learned into use. Seeking opportunity, he approached his father to start working towards some new responsibilities that could pave the way to becoming emperor. Relieved that his firstborn was interested in the workings of the imperial government, Emperor Allen appointed Elias as the Guardian Mayor of the Imperial City. The book knowledge and skills in magic would serve Elias well in the new position, as would his relationship with staff within the University. He assumed the new post at the start of the year in 1032 AF.
Managing the largest city in the world has proven to be a challenging task for Elias. He has worked hard towards understanding each of the city departments and its labyrinthine bureaucracy with varying degrees of success. He has sought to maintain a balance between the various factions' and their interests in the city, but has also been consistently outmaneuvered by the Church of the One Sun. Many have begun to simply see him as a puppet of the Church, even his old colleagues at the University.
