Eliza Pollard
Countess Eliza Pollard
Eliza Pollard was born in small village of Remotta, far from the lands she would end up calling her home. Although she was born in the Mersan Union, her family tended to travel far and wide, as merchants and agents, seeking to sell the village's agricultural surplus to larger communities in the nation. Eliza seemed well suited to the family business, and made friends easily among the other children and teenagers of the towns they visited. Despite the traveling lifestyle, she was coddled by her parents and closely loved, and when tragedy struck, she was the one that others in her caravan would have least expected to rise to the occasion. When she turned seventeen she had a chance to show her true worth.
While entering into the neighboring nation of Recfrere, the family's caravan was attacked by raiders and although she was frightened, Eliza took up a spear and defended her friends and family, displaying a surprising faith in the saints that served her through. During the fight she showed herself capable of channeling the will of the Church of Keshush and the saints within, invoking Saint Ulfgar in particular to aid her in the battle. It was then she was revealed as a paladin of the church, and she sought to further understand her newfound powers. Leaving her family behind, Eliza soon found herself heading down the Long Road towards Alsona, where Saint Ulfgar himself had fallen in battle.
Her adventures led to an accumulation of a party of fellow travelers, all seeking to make their fortune in the west, independent of the Alsonan Rangers or other adventuring companies. Although multiple lesser adventures took place before reaching the town of Asimi, it was there that Eliza would make her name and establish her faith. She found that the town was, like others in Alsona, undergoing a wave of resentment against the dwarven population, as was common after the Wingo War. Seeking to help the dwarves improve their lot, she ended up residing in Asimi and undertaking some odd jobs and support for the people, dwarf and human alike. It was in the course of these quests that she discovered a foul plot in the highest halls of the town.
Eliza and her friends discovered that the Countess of Asimi had been working with a necromantic cabal to attract large numbers of dwarves to the town in order to slaughter them all at once and raise forth an undead army of their number. They had planned on using this undead army to carve out a swathe of conquest in Alsona, and even topple the Queen herself. Striking fast and with her saints behind her, Eliza struck down the Countess and vanquished her necromancer followers. Through her nobility and action, Queen Miranda Taeylorr herself awarded Eliza with the title of Countess of Asimi, pledging her to continue her stalwart protection of the people of the town and surrounding region. Eliza accepted and has done her best to serve the people of Asimi fairly.
In the years since taking her new position, Eliza has struggled with the political sphere of Alsona, being a political and religious outsider to the devout aristocracy that follows The King's Host rather than the saints of her childhood. She has proven popular with the common folk, but it seems unlikely she will ever be accepted by her new peers.
