Goblin
Goblins have their own common presence in Emicara, and are typically feared and hated. They exist in marauding bands throughout the Badlands or in the Apps Mountains. Some have been known to become “civilized” as they have embraced more acceptable traits and behaviors in Populres and the Confederacy. The Ke'zani and Ke'keci tribes are well known as the Confederacy's civilized goblin tribes.
Goblins in D&D Fifth Edition
Goblins come in a variety of types in Emicara, and you can use the goblin, bugbear, and hobgoblin statistics and character creation provided by Volo's Guide to Monsters to represent goblins from different tribes or families. All different types are present in different forms, due to goblins' surprising adaptability and susceptibility to mutation and change. It is recommended, however, that for goblinoid races that you instead use the statistics provided in Eberron: Rising from the Last War, as they are typically more interesting and better representation of goblin people.Civilization and Culture
Major Language Groups and Dialects
Most goblin tribes have taken on the languages of their perceived betters in the nations in which they reside. In Populres, most Goblins learn Orcish or Draconic to survive. In the Sypi Confederacy, many take on knowledge of Common in order to interact with the other Confederate tribes. Despite these adaptations, Goblin remains a unique language all of its own, enabling a more private method of communication among the Goblin people throughout the world.
History
Goblins are a newer race to Emicara. Having originated in the west, it's believed that they were once also loyal servants of the giants. Entire tribes and clans cross the Sypi River, escaping from giant oppression around three hundred years ago, and were mostly driven off by the forces of the Confederacy. However, some of the tribes instead tried to gain admittance and acceptance among the human population of the Sypi Confederacy, and some succeeded, much as human tribes had before them. These tribes were granted migration land by the rulers of the Confederacy and equal rights with the humans. They retained much of their original beliefs and traditions, preserving their oral history of the old ways.
Other tribes continued east through the Apps Mountains, where they fought against dwarves, orcs, dragonborn, and the humans of the Shin Empire and Mersan Union. Some of the tribes continue to eke out a bare existence in some hidden valleys and remote canyons, but most have either been destroyed by constant fighting, or at last settled down in Populres. The goblins were welcomed in Populres, but viewed as not much more than fodder for battle and labor. They rank in Populresi society only slightly above the nation's slaves in terms of treatment and societal status.
