Half-Giant

Half-giants hail from the west or distant north, and are typically allies or willing agents for the giant lords who rule the western lands. They are known as brutal task masters and warriors, and the ones who deal with problems in spaces too small for a regular giant to enter. Some despise this life working for the giants, and so they are occasionally seen in the Sypi Confederacy or Alsona, making new lives among the humans.

Goliaths are considered to be of age at 20 years. They are considered old when they reach 90 years of age. They rarely live that long however, due to violent lives, but those who die of natural causes can live as many as 120 years.

Civilization and Culture

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Half-giants speak Giant as their primary language, and have only marginal regional dialects. Half-giants that interact with the lands in the south and east are more likely to speak broken Common on a day to day basis, but otherwise retain their Giant roots.

History

The half-giants are said to be have not actually been the result of human and giant interbreeding. Instead, it's believed to be the end results of magical experimentation and development by powerful giant wizards looking to create a stronger and more loyal slave class for their people. The idea was to create a humanoid that would be loyal to giant caste society, but able to undertake tasks better suited to smaller beings. The half-giant was the end result. They soon grew in number and became willing taskmasters over the other slaves held by giants throughout the world. In time they split away to form their own societies and cultures, and some even left the Giant Lands and pursued their own destinies as adventurers in Emicara. The largest free half-giant communities are those referred to as the Lakemen, living in the icy and far north, where they have carved a functioning society out from the elements.
