Jeftra

The Jeftra are similar to the Alsonans, from whom they take their gods and many cultural elements. They are a primarily nomadic people, but they are unusual in that they rarely expand as a tribe or people usually do. The Jeftra actually take things further than the Alsonans, and expel men from their ranks, while welcoming new women constantly into their tribe. Women from all over Emicara have found their way to the reclusive shelters of the Jeftra tribe, where they are safe from whatever or whoever pursues them. Only a handful of men still reside within the Jeftra encampment, usually children of women who have fled elsewhere. For the most part, many choose to leave the Jeftra tribe or are forced out, leaving with their mothers. Throughout the rest of the Confederacy, the Jeftra people are known to be incredibly reclusive, constantly moving their encampment throughout the higher foothills of the Apps Mountains along the Shin border. It is common knowledge among the people of the Confederacy that any man attempting to seek out the Jeftra should just throw themselves into the Sypi River, as that fate would be far more pleasant.

Naming Traditions

Feminine names

Lana, Gloria, Genesis, Stella, Ceres, Freya, Kaya, Moss, Cypress, Petal

Masculine names

Men within the Jeftra tribe are rarely acknowledge, and only named by their mothers. They are often disallowed to use these names upon leaving the Jeftra tribe, and thus usually find a new name within whatever new community they enter.

Family names

Though the people of the Jeftra tribe originate from all over Emicara, they typically abandon their familial names in favor of new names within the tribe. On the occasions that scouts and warriors leave the tribe's encampment and lands, they usually identify themselves with the last name of Jeftra, rather than whatever name they may have used previously. Within the tribe itself, all members are known by their name given to them upon achieving membership within the tribe.

Ideals

Gender Ideals

The lack of men within Jeftra tribal boundaries is derived not from a belief in the inherent superiority of women, but instead of in a belief of the inherent brutality of men. The Jeftra women's main mission is to protect their sisters from the activities of men and abusive relationships. They offer safety and a place to reside for any woman of any nation or faith to escape to. Women therefore serve in all roles of society, and any man who somehow enters their ranks can expect very little social mobility, and usually is expelled or asked to leave during adulthood.

Relationship Ideals

The Jeftra firmly believe that the only meaningful relationships of any kind can exist solely between woman and woman. Whether love or friendship, it is believed that a man will always inevitably violate the trust of the relationship. Relationships between men and women are expressly forbidden within the Jeftra encampment, although women who leave to trade or adventure are welcome to experience things otherwise in the towns of the Confederacy.
