Jondak Eagerfield
Commander Jondak Eagerfield
Jondak Eagerfield was born in the hill dwarf city of Kiralyno, during the height of the Jakonian Empire. As a youth, he followed the wills of his clan and entered into the service of the Church of Keshush. He spent nearly two decades in the service of the church, but found life wanting and unfulfilling, never feeling a divine spark like most clerics or those who serve. He instead excelled at the elements of military training that they received, although he never found himself blessed with the will of a paladin. He grew tired of the routine and restless, and chose to depart into the wilds of Emicara. He joined a caravan across the Badlands from Hilliard to Waycross, and there his life began to change.
The caravan he was with was ambushed by orc raiders, and most of the group was killed, with Jondak just barely surviving amid the wreckage. He was left for dead by orcs and guards alike, and found himself alone in the Badlands with no supplies, food, or water. He began the perilous trek alone, getting lost in a dust storm. He was saved by the discovery of an opportune oasis, and he found faith renewed, in Saint Leifeimara. He found himself blessed with new abilities, powers, and a faith restored. He was able to make it across the Badlands into the town of Fitgera, where he spent some time recovering and administering to the faithful he found.
Despite his new faith, Jondak was eager to embark upon discovery of the world around him and the blessings of nature. After wandering for a few years, he became embroiled in the Great War, stumbling into a battlefield in the Sypi Confederacy. He fell in with the Liba Tribe and helped heal and mend those who had been wounded in battle. He refused to take up arms against the Empire directly, but continued to lend aid to those who opposed them. When the Great War came to an end, Jondak had seen much of the Confederacy, falling in love with the still open wilderness of the land. He settled down in the city of Wofslar, creating a shrine to Leifeimara in the Great Temple, and administering to the few faithful of the Church in the region.
The numbers of his faithful began to diminish and by the tenth century, he was essentially following the Church of Keshush alone. He chose to depart and wander the Confederacy once again, but this time, it did not last long. He stumbled into a giant attack on a small Travite family group, and entered into the fight. His combat and divine magic helped turn the tide, with the timely arrival of forces from the River Watch. His efforts to kill a giant earned him an invitation into the River Watch to help protect the people. Jondak looked around to see the devastation both to the wilds and the people caused by the giant, and offered a heartfelt agreement.
Today, Jondak is the highest ranking cleric in the forces of the River Watch. He oversees operations within Forest Point Keep, and has been responsible for inviting smiths from Kiralyno to aid in the maintenance of the weapons within the armory there. However, he is now quite old, deaf, and nearly blind, having become old even by dwarven standards. He is still considered a valuable member of the watch, but it is said that most of the time spent by his subordinates is correcting mistakes he has made.
