Laurens Denzinger
Lord Laurens Denzinger
Laurens Denzinger was provided an elite education from the finest tutors available in the Kingdom of Columba as he grew up in the town of Hampburg. He was a diligent student, described as brilliant in math and technical skills, if a bit lacking in social awareness. His keen mind for business was honed by a series of hill dwarf tutors from Valtkos Kiralyno, who he related to far more than his human peers in the local aristocracy. He spent nearly a decade living more in Atkeles than any other settlement inhabited primarily by humans, and began to speak dwarven as his primary tongue upon his return home.
It took some adjustment for the young Laurens to return to the human style of business, but he found his niche within the family coffers and accounting, shunning military or diplomatic affairs in favor of simply managing the family's economic holdings. During his young adulthood, the family thrived and expanded its economic power throughout Columba and Kiralyno, as many of the friends made during his time in the east helped to build his business. It is likely he would never have found a chance to wed or propagate his family line if his father and mother had not made arrangements for him with a local merchant's daughter. The marriage was surprisingly humble by Columban standards, and many people were legitimately surprised when he sired an heir.
Until Laurens' father's death in 1026, he remained focused upon the business of business. When his father finally passed, he was too busy in accounts to actually be at his bedside. Disliked by the humans in the family's court, Laurens has continued to hold onto power, mostly out of tradition than a desire for position or influence, and he has delegated most diplomatic and domestic affairs to his extended family.
