Nuri Attali
Mukarrib Nuri Attali
Nuri Attali was only an infant when he was whisked away from theĀ Qalea Asfanaja with his mother and the rest of the Attali harem. The forces of the Free City of Augustin were burning Cooperston, and the mukarrib's family was sent away to Ramilia, escaping from the vengeful invaders. The mukarrib was slain, and as his only male child, Nuri became the new one, under the guidance of his father's council. The council proceeded to undertake most of the duties of the kingdom, and Nuri was provided with limited education, as the family's finances were nonexistent after the Augustinian attack. Instead, he ended up having to aid on a local plantation, performing manual labor alongside the poor and catfolk of the island.
When he became an adult, Nuri immediately took to the seas with the corsairs and began attacking Augustinian shipping. His position allowed him to select the vessels on which he'd serve, and the council was happy to let him go. He spent several years at sea, gaining combat experience, and accumulating what treasure he could to pay for his diminishing family. Ultimately, he wed a woman taken upon one of these raids, and returned home. He slew one of his councillors in combat when they were reluctant to return power and took charge of his island. Now in command of the people of Jazirat Sihkria, Nuri has settled down with a growing family, and seeks to avenge the lost years of his life upon the Augustinians, one ship at a time.
