Onacona Tracee

Chief Onacona Tracee

Onacona Tracee is the youngest human chief of any tribe in the Sypi Confederacy, leading the Tracee Tribe. Most of his childhood took place during the Sypi Civil War, as he witnessed his tribe torn apart by factionalism and the Church of the One Sun. His parents were split on the matter, with his mother supporting the old ways and his father running off to join the Sihka Tribe against the Bienombes. As the war dragged on, both his mother and father were killed in clashes between the tribes, leaving him an orphan, working with the blacksmiths who forged the weapons to support the conflict. The war ended before he became fighting age, leaving him as a ward of one of the tribe's artisans.    As he became an adult, Onacona became further and further disgruntled with the way the tribe was handling the aftermath of the war. The chiefs that followed the war were paranoid and sought to purge any traces of the Church of the One Sun among the tribe, and those who fought against the Bienombe were exiled and forbidden to return. It was during this time in 1036 AF that Onacona's father returned, long thought dead in battle against the Bienombes. Having seen the atrocities committed by the Church and their followers, he had attempted to desert, but had spent the past eight years imprisoned in a Jakonian work camp. Only after barely escaping he returned to his people only to find he was not allowed to rejoin his son.    Onacona took up his father's fight and began lobbying the chief to lift the exile of those who had followed the Sihka. Refusal led to a major political campaign as Onacona sought the position of chief in the 1037 election. He won over the backing of the people, campaigning on reconciliation and peace rather than continued purges and exiles. His message of hope resonated with the Tracee people, and he was overwhelmingly elected. After winning the election, Onacona has taken his message of reconciliation to the rest of the Confederacy, in the hopes of putting to bed the horrors of the civil war once and for all, and restoring unity among all of the people of the region, regardless of faith.
