Tracee Tribe
The Tracee Tribe is culturally an offshoot of the larger and more prosperous Wicka. The Tracee live in the Cotaw Plains east of the main inhabited towns of the Sypi Confederacy, and they were once the most numerous tribe within the entirety of Confederate lands. That all changed with the outbreak of the civil war as the Tracee were equally divided by followers of the old ways and followers of the Church of the One Sun. Many of those who followed the Church either converted back to the old ways after the massacre at the Great Temple, while others chose to depart and join the Sihka directly in the fight against the Bienombe. The splitting of the tribe has still caused numerous wounds afterwards, as the chief at the civil war chose to allow those who joined the Sihka to return, and reintegrate into the tribe.
Structure
The chief holds mostly absolute power among the people of the Tracee Tribe and is the highest judge of interpretation of any laws that have been broken among the tribes. The tribe is bound by laws very similar to those of the towns and settlements of the Sypi Confederacy, which they are modeled upon. Chiefs are determined by tribe-wide elections every seven years, at which point the chief is elected from those who wish to stand for the position, much like mayors in some neighboring communities and villages. Anyone of fighting age is considered eligible to vote.
Public Agenda
The Tracee leadership has recently begun calling for a more open minded approach to diplomacy, to normalize relations with the kingdoms of Losana and Bamard, in favor of opening up new trade. They have also been the most outspoken of advocates for the restoration of worship rights to followers of the Church of the One Sun, offering amnesty to those who fought for the Sihka during the civil war. This has won them the mistrust of most of the rest of the Confederacy, but for the time being, they continue their calls for tolerance and acceptance among their fellow tribes.
Demography and Population
The majority of the Tracee tribe is made up of Wicka humans, but they have recently begun to welcome a small contingent of high elves into their ranks, as they seek out efforts to modernize. Similarly, the Tracee offer safe haven to halfling traders coming from the Villages or elsewhere in the Jakonian Empire. These halflings have carved out their own enclave among the Tracee, offering them the lucrative merchant connections within the empire. Humans from other tribes are welcome as well, and recently, the more progressive of members of the Wicka tribe have been defecting to the Tracee, finding their attempts towards modernization and civilization to be a welcome breath of fresh air.
