Tahatan Wicka

Chief Tahatan Wicka

Tahatan Wicka is the current chief of the Wicka Tribe in the Sypi Confederacy. Tahatan was born with an appetite for knowledge and an abundant curiosity. He proved to be fascinated by the magic of the priests of the Wicka pantheon, but he had little patience for learning the elaborate rites or devoting himself to the patient worship of any one deity. He spent his teenage years pestering his father to provide him with an education in more advanced magic and learning. Perhaps as a way to get Tahatan out of his hair, the chief paid for a full tuition to the Asimi College of Magic in Alsona, deciding to forego similar education at the University of Wofslar or with the Gibbers.    At the Asimi College of Magic, Tahatan distinguished himself as a student of evocation magic. He was particularly good with the use of magical fire in combat situations. Upon his graduation in 984, he returned home a true wizard and scholar. He immediately put his new talents to work in defending against raids and aiding his father, who had just become the new High Chief of the Sypi Confederacy. Tahatan became a common sight around all of the Confederacy, adventuring and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Decades after his return, he was the clear favorite to be elected the new High Chief of the Confederacy upon the death of his father 1019. He was content in his position, assured of his support from among the chiefs, giving little mind to the challengers from the Conino, Bienombe, and Sihka tribes.    Tahatan's confidence proved to be his downfall, as while he was selected as chief within his own tribe, the Sypi Confederacy instead elected the upstart Quico Bienombe as the new High Chief. Tahataan gracefully accepted his loss, and recognized the victory of Quico in a formal ceremony, that was interrupted by the Sihka attack on the Great Temple, and both leaders watched as the temple burned from the walls of Wofslar. Tahatan was incensed and threw himself in defense of his old rival and led the Wicka Tribe into war against the Sihka and their masters in the Church of the One Sun.    Victories in the war came quickly for Tahatan, as he was one of the strongest wizards and spellcasters at the disposal of the Bienombe forces in the fight. His army was backed by devastating firestorms that came from the hands of the Wicka chief. He won numerous battles and perhaps hundreds of enemies died at the ends of his spells. He was exhausted by the end of the conflict, and many say troubled from the sheer amount of death he had caused in the fighting. When the war ended he returned to his tribe and began the process of rebuilding.    Tahatan has become much older and wiser in the years since the war, but he has never stopped his study of magic. Many claim that he may be the preeminent wizard in the Sypi Confederacy, perhaps even beyond those of the Gibber Tribe. He has refused to put these abilities to use, and instead has begun calling for a return of the traditional balance of power within Confederate tribal lands.
