The Mystic Stone Circle

General Summary

The Adventurer's Outpost in the Bullfrog Inn is little more than a small board tucked in the corner near the bar where the barmaid doubles as the patron and the guild representative. In her usual flat monotone voice she instructs you to the board pointing out the new requests for the day.
— The parties first meeting with Greta

18th of Silvanus, 636 Golden Era

Once the party has sat down to enjoy some playful banter and breakfast they picked a notice off the board that looked like it would be a good day's work. Once they were ready they set off for Myrehall, a small logging village just inside Wolfpine Forest about a six hour walk from Talbet.
Upon their arrival to Myrehall they immediatly found the wizard's "tower" which meant it was the only multi storied building in the small village, and the local tavern in which they met the lovely elven couple that owns and operates it, Thelon and Dierdre. Thirst quenched they arrived at the tower, and they were greeted at the door by Norn, Chariz' faithful servant, who led them to a sitting room before going to retrieve his master.

— the board notice

In enters the wizard Chariz Shadowmane, although he looked much more like a soldier than a gangly book worm, and he informed the party of the whereabouts of a mysterious temple to the that lay under a hill with a stone circle arranged on its top. He asked the party to retrieve a silver disk about the size of ones hand, that he believed was there. Upon asking a few pointed questions the party learned that the temple was formerly used by an elvish cult that obsessed over death, and used the temple some 200 years ago but hasn't seen use since. Armed with information and 2 health potions courtesy of the employer, the party set out into the woods.
Upon their arrival to the hill they found a large boulder that when pushed aside revealed the entrance to the temple. Pitch black they plunged in headfirst. Inside they found skeletons, and animated suits of armor and flying swords, puzzles and traps, evidence of horrible rituals, but alas made it to the final room. A small circular silver disk awaited them on a pedestal, but when they grabbed it the magic holding the temple together left and it began to collapse. Narrowly escaping the party began their journey back with their prize in hand.
Once back at Chariz' they questioned the wizard, wanting to know more about the cult and the things they had seen in the temple. To his credit he gave them as much information as he had. The cult worshipped death and in their rituals experimented with all different types of magic, but to what end he did not know. However the disk, which emanated an evil aura was used in some kind of divination ritual. The wizard told the party that divination research magic was a hobby of his, and his curiosity was purely for research. Satisfied with the answer the party took their reward and headed back to town for some well earned rest and relaxation.
