Wolfpine Forest

The Wolfpine forest consists mostly of tall deciduous trees with other hardwoods such as cedar and oak. It also has a rich variety of game such as squirrels, deer, and rabbits.   While the immediate area is considered mostly safe, the hunters and trappers speak of strange sounds that they sometimes hear from deep within the forest.

Geography

Consisting almost entirely of thick woods around both Greater and Lower Wolfpine Lake, the land is relatively flat making it easy to get lost within the confines of the forest. To the east are the Yuma Mountains, beyond that is the Lower Wolfplains, and Central Wolfplains. To the west is Taur-na-Chardhîn, south is Serpent's Mire, and to the north is The Null.

Yuma Mountains

Located on the eastern edge the the region creating a natural border to Central Wolfplains. Havel's Cross, the most well travelled pass through the range is located in it's southern portion. Halfway through the pass was the Havel's Cross Inn, which is now derelict, making the pass a much more treacherous journey.

History

At some point in the past a elven death cult known as Namma Herumorva operated in this region with many different places of worship.

Feast of the Pines

A festival that takes place on the summer solstice in the Wolfpine Forest and Serpent’s Mire regions. The legend goes that some 800 years ago an evil being ruled the area defiling and corrupting everything it touched, and It was a cruel ruler that delighted in suffering. On the summer solstice a group of 12 druids rose up to fight the being and in the ensuing fight 7 died but not before they sealed the being away, and now we celebrate their victory. The common celebration is folks gather from all around in either Talbet or Mire's Edge and take part in a week long affair of eating and drinking. Food is prepared in the streets and is free for everyone, and locals open up their homes to travelers to sleep. Traditionally wreaths are made using vines or reeds from the forest and the revelers wear them on their head as a nod to the druid circle that saved them.
