High Seer
Qualifications
- Must have worked in Parliament, and must have expertise in politics and national affairs. Probably should be a good public speaker, honestly. Military background is recommended but not required, although those who are veterans or have worked in the military are favored more.
Requirements
- Must be 30 years of age.
- Must be a citizen of that country.
- Must have performed 100 hours of community service.
- Must have a political background; having been in Parliament is a MUST.
- Cannot run again for ten years.
Appointment
A High Seer runs for election, however, the people do not pick them. Instead, Parliament must select them and the Judiciary must agree to it. Citizens may petition their Parliamentary representatives to offer a say in the election of the High Seer, however, that is all they may do.
- Typically goes through three rounds of elections: the Primary, the Secondary, and the Finals. The Primary eliminates the first round of candidates, the Secondary eliminates the second, and the Final usually comes down to two or three candidates. Parliament spends hours listening to the candidates and interrogating them about why they are interested in the role. Telling them everything you intend to do is not required but you better be prepared to answer question after question.
Duties
- Head of the State
- Presides over Parliament.
- May make treaties with other countries with approval from Parliament.
- Selects their cabinet members with approval by Parliament.
- Symbolic Leader.
- Provides a sense of stability for their people.
Benefits
There are no real benefits to being a High Seer. They are paid basic income like everyone else. The only real 'benefit' is they get to play as a role model for people across the world, especially children. Is that even a benefit? Well. It is now. You get kids to look up to you. Of course, there is also travel involved at times. The traveling is the fun part.
Accoutrements & Equipment
When they are on duty, they are expected to wear a robe that is tailored specifically for them to wear. They have a selection of robes to choose from, so at least they are not forced to wear the same thing every day, but it's specifically made for them and is to represent them as a person as well as a leader of their country.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
If a High Seer happens to fall out of favor with the public, then the public may petition Parliament to remove them from their position. However, usually a High Seer resigns before it gets to that point. Usually.
