King / Queen
Title given to the ruler of a kingdom or monarchy, it's the highest possible rank in such states.
This rank is a lifelong and hereditary one, passed down to the firstborn legitimate male heir in the Bolganian Kingdom.
Is called King Consort or Queen Consort the marital partner of a ruler. If there are multiple partners being given that title, it is preceeded by a number in order of seniority.
If a young child is crowned the monarch, then a regent is often appointed to govern until the monarch reaches the requisite adult age to rule. This is the only case in which a King Consort or Queen Consort can, temporarily, enjoy the same power than if they were the ruler in their own right.
The heir to the title is typically referred as the Crown Prince or Crown Princess while other children are given the title of Prince or Princess, sometimes with a number if there are many children, such as 'Second Prince' or 'Third Princess', 'First Prince' and 'First Princess' only being used for the Crown Prince or Crown Princess.
In the Bolganian kingdom succession order, the monarch's eldest son and his descendants take precedence over the monarch's siblings and their descendants. Elder sons take precedence over younger sons, but all sons take precedence over daughters, which are only crowned when no other male descendant exists. Children represent their deceased ancestors, and the senior line of descent always takes precedence over the junior line, within each gender. The right of succession belongs to the eldest son of the reigning sovereign, and next to the eldest son of the eldest son.
