Zelathor Isles (Zel - a - thor Isles)
Geography
Zelathor Isles are a set of 9 islands that are connected by small land bridges that are only available to go across a few times a year for those unfit for swimming. In the center of the Isles is a inactive volcano that has a fresh-water lake in its center. Each of the islands stretches dozens of miles in area, allowing for thick forests and vegetation further inland.
Ecosystem
Zelathor Isles consists a great deal of vegetation as you go further inland, due to the nature of the Isles, the primary inhabitants are those that can get to it and survive off vegetation. Which is why Tortles are the main population on the Isles, along with several bird and bug species. Fish and dangerous water creatures inhabit the shores of the Isles, giving the Tortles another layer of protection. The Tortles primarily live off the vegetation, as well as their own farms created in the furthest inland spots.
Ecosystem Cycles
The Isles are greatly affected by the tides and tropical storms, several times throughout the year there are crossable land bridges that connect each island in the Isles due to the low tides. And once every year in the summer there is a crossable land bridge to the mainland that stretches miles. Most never attempt to cross it for the fear of getting loss and the tides coming back in before they can reach the other side, few have succeeded in crossing into the isles, but most never make it past the entrance, one has succeeded in making it out of the Isles.
Localized Phenomena
There has been a couple of notes in captain's handbooks claiming they have seen abrupt rainstorms in the area, likely from the Arch-Shaman of the lands.
