The
Masters Guild is a the most prestigious arcane organization in
The Kingdom of Aéredon, comprised of the heads of the
Eight Schools of Magic. These powerful mages play crucial roles in helping the
King rule firmly and maintain balance within the realm, and to educate the budding wizards and sorcerers of the realm. First and foremost, the
Masters Guild acts as advisors to the
King, providing their expertise and guidance on matters related to magic. Their deep knowledge and understanding of the arcane arts allow them to offer valuable insights and help shape the king's decisions.
Each member of the
Masters Guild is responsible for overseeing and advancing their respective school of magic. They are not only highly skilled in their chosen discipline but also possess a deep understanding of the intricacies of magic and its applications. They rule over
The Arcanium Universalis in unity. They oversee the training of aspiring mages, ensuring that the next generation is well-versed in the various schools of magic. By passing down their knowledge and skills, they contribute to the growth and development of magical talent in the kingdom.
Members of the Guild
School of Conjuration
Headmaster Carrac Hillis:
Grand Conjurer Hillis is the founder of the
AU, as well as a former adventurer. He made a big name for himself in his youth, as
Carrac the Conjurer, a member of an adventure party in his youth. He traveled all over the continent along with
Agmaar, one of his oldest and closest friends. However, after a nasty encounter defeating an evil Minotaur demon, he decided to retire from adventuring and began training casters how to amplify and hone their abilities. His highly charismatic and flamboyant personality, with high intelligence, made him a natural hero and later a promising leader of the school. Unfortunately as he ages, his memory gets worse and worse. He remains steadfast as the head of the school, however some members of the
Master’s Guild believe he no longer deserves that role. He is approaching 80 years old.
School of Divination
Assistant Headmaster Agmaar Bjoulderbjorn, is a dwarf seer, and his grandmother,
Keema, was one of the most powerful druids known. He spent his youth traveling with
Carrac the Conjurer. They are they only two remaining members of their old adventuring party, and remain very best friends and close colleagues as they work together at the university. He has become a close friend as well to the
Royal Family, often assisting the
King and
Queen both in very personal matters. He spends his free time wandering the countryside near the capital looking for tea leaves and foraging for mushrooms. He often visits the powerful shrines in
Anden to the Gods and Goddesses and other ancient wild mysteries.
School of Evocation
Derith Milcantos, a male halfling, has always had a knack for destruction. Passed down through his bloodline, the blood of an ancient green dragon, flows through his veins and grants him his abilities to call upon powerful and destructive evocation magic. His belief is that magic should not be taught to everyone, only those who naturally possess the ability to harness and manipulate magic. He has been lobbying for the school to close their doors and stop teaching magic to people born with no magical abilities. He is incredibly rude to members of the college who have learned magic and always thinks he is better than them. He is believed to be plotting to take over leadership of the
Master’s Guild, and get rid of
Conjurer Hillis
School of Transmutation
Professor
Enereg Rumilae, a wood elf, arrived in
Emerald Bay to work for the
Arcanium Universalis as a field analyst. His first 15 or so years at the school sent him all over the world exploring ruins and caverns to investigate the origins of several artifacts. Eventually, he went to the field less and less, as his understanding and extreme intellect made him a perfect candidate to take over the
School of Transmutation after the previous Master retired. An avid tinkerer,
Enereg developed
Transmuting Gauntlets, a new way to harness arcane focus. Because of his invention to more easily allow non-magically born people access to powerful spells, this has caused a large rift in the
Master’s Guild mainly between
Enereg and
Derith, playing his adversary and pushing for the expulsion of non-magically gifted students from the school.
Professor Rumilae is the most intelligent of all the
Master’s Guild members, and so his input is highly regarded. He is not the most social and prefers time surrounded by books and fascinated by aquatic life, his private quarters have several elaborate fish tanks displaying various races of known and unknown creatures.
School of Abjuration
Priestess Galassa Inaxi, a female
Firbolg, from the highlands of the North, is a very soft spoken member of the
Master’s Guild, however she is considered the strongest warrior and healer. Her ability to inspire and protect her allies has made her a valuable member of the
Kingdom. While she is typically very shy and reserved, in battle or in the classroom she is a commanding presence. She takes her duties very seriously and often walks the streets of
Emerald Bay handing out food to children and using her gifts of healing to soothe the beggars. She is a devout follower of
Valli. She carries a war hammer imbued with radiant energy, and has a suit of enchanted armor, although she is most comfortable wrapped up in a shawl her mother made for her when she was selected as head of the
School of Abjuration.
School of Illusion
Jasmine Jorcas, a female human, is the youngest member of the
Masters Guild and happens to be the cousin of the current King. Known for her love of attention and vibrant personality, she spends muh of her time hanging out with her friends and throwing parties at her mansion in the
Emerald District. As much of a pain in the ass as she can be, she is however very powerful and one of the strongest members, even if it may just be raw untapped power. When it comes to teaching,
Jasmine brings her unique energy into the classroom. She believes in the power of experiential learning and often incorporates interactive and immersive activities into her lessons. Her students love her for her creativity and ability to make learning illusions a fun and engaging experience.
School of Enchantment
Researcher Sylla Alliant, a female air genasi, with a deep curiosity and a thirst for knowledge, is a very studious researcher and has spent much of her life tracking down the location of the library in the ruined city of
Neravine. Her extensive work his on display in the laboratory she has built within her discovery. She has spent the years since, teaching students and professors alike in the field as they sift through the sand. Her relentless pursuit of knowledge has taken her deep into the heart of the
Quary-Airys Desert where she braves scorching heat, treacherous sandstorms, and the dangers that lie beneath the surface to uncover anything significant they can about the past history of the planet.
School of Necromancy
Abbara Flynn, is the head of the most controversial school in the college,
Necromancy. Born among a poor caravan,
Abbara was considered a monstrosity, to the humans and elves composing the troupe. It is unknown who her father was, but her mother travelled the roads and earned money however she could. After her mother went into labor while visiting the elves of
Trysdale,
Abbara was abandoned, as her mother could not handle the responsibility or shame of raising a child of demonic ancestry. While she claims her field is more misunderstood than evil, she is adamant to change the common people’s view on necromancy and its merits and need for the natural order of things. She is in her mid-50’s.
