Corellon

Corellon, the God of Magic and greater deity of the Creation Pantheon, is the embodiment of arcane knowledge, creativity, and elven culture. Known for his elegance, wisdom, and boundless love for the arts, Corellon became the patron god of the elves after undergoing the Rite of Rebirth. His journey to divinity was one of dedication to magical mastery, and he has since become a protector of magic’s purity and its transformative power.

Physical Description

Corellon is often depicted as a tall, graceful figure with a radiant androgynous beauty that reflects the fluid, boundless nature of magic itself. His skin is a soft, luminous silver that shimmers under light, and his eyes are a vivid shade of violet, exuding an aura of otherworldly wisdom and magic. Corellon’s attire is always intricately designed, with flowing robes embroidered with symbols of stars, moons, and arcane glyphs. His hair, silken and silver, appears to sway like a gentle breeze even when still. Corellon is frequently portrayed wielding a longsword of pure, enchanted light or surrounded by arcane symbols that seem to orbit him, representing his mastery over the magical arts.

History

Corellon’s journey began as a mortal with an insatiable thirst for knowledge and an unrelenting dedication to magic. His skill in the arcane arts and his desire to unlock its mysteries drew the attention of Moradin, who eventually offered him the Rite of Rebirth. By accepting and passing this divine trial, Corellon ascended to godhood, becoming the God of Magic and solidifying his place as the patron deity of the elves, the first sentient mortal race.

As an Icon before his divinity, Corellon was already celebrated among the elves as a master of magic and a symbol of their cultural ideals. His influence helped shape the early traditions of elven magic, teaching them to harness the Weave, the fundamental magical network that binds reality. Upon his ascension, he became the custodian of magic and the arcane arts, dedicating himself to the pursuit of magical purity and guiding his people through knowledge and creativity.

Corellon was once married to Lolth, the Goddess of the Weave, who shared his love of magic and the mysteries of the universe. Together, they symbolized unity and balance in the arcane world. However, during the War of the Divine, a devastating battle between the gods, Lolth was grievously wounded and corrupted by one of the Elder Evils from the Void. This dark influence twisted her into the Goddess of Lies and Spiders, marking her fall from her previous role as a protector of magic. Lolth’s transformation was a great tragedy to Corellon and the elves, as she became a powerful but malevolent force, luring those who would misuse magic into her web of deception.

Divine Intercession

Corellon rewards those who pursue magic, knowledge, and beauty, while opposing those who misuse or abuse arcane power.
Minor Boon: Arcane Spark
Once per day, you can cast detect magic as an innate divine spell. Corellon grants you a spark of insight, allowing you to sense and appreciate magic around you.
Moderate Boon: Gift of the Arcanist
Once per day, Corellon grants you the ability to cast one spell as if it were heightened to one level higher than you could normally cast. This boon enhances your arcane potential, helping you achieve greater feats in moments of need.
Major Boon: Corellon’s Arcane Ascendancy
Corellon grants you unparalleled mastery over magic. Once per day, you can cast any arcane spell you know without expending a spell slot, as though it were cast from memory alone. Additionally, you gain a +2 bonus to Arcana checks, representing Corellon’s guidance and favor in your magical endeavors.
Minor Curse: Unseen Shadows
If you misuse magic or show disrespect for Corellon’s principles, your connection to arcane energy fades slightly. You suffer a -1 penalty on all Arcana checks until you demonstrate respect for magic or creativity.
Moderate Curse: Misdirected Spell
Corellon places a barrier on your connection to magic, causing your spells to become unreliable. Whenever you cast a spell, you must succeed on a DC 15 flat check; on a failure, the spell takes a slightly unintended form, resulting in a -2 penalty to all spell effects. The curse lifts once you atone by performing a selfless act of magical protection or sharing a significant discovery.
Major Curse: Severed Arcane Link
Corellon withdraws his connection to the arcane from you, making it difficult to wield magic. You lose access to all spells of your highest spell level, and any attempt to cast a spell results in a -4 penalty to spell DCs. Only through a journey of rediscovery and a true act of magical devotion can this curse be lifted.
