The Dragon's Egg

The Dragon's Egg is located in the small harbor hamlet that feeds supplies to the Temple of Life, the God Astrid's seat of worship.   Pilgrims in need of healing journey from across the lands to the heart of Astrid's power among mortals. These ailing pilgrims are administered to and watched over by the Healers and Medicants in the temple, however only the clergy and the unwell can stay in the temple. Those who journey with their ailing family members find a soft bed, a warm meal, and a strong drink at the Dragon's Egg.

The building was constructed in the circular fashion so often seen in the architecture honoring Astrid, as are most of the buildings in the hamlet at the feet of the Temple of Life.   Most of the people who stay at the Inn are facing emotional hardship over their sick loved one, as such they tend to either want peace or distraction. The Inn offers both. The tavern has strong drink and wholesome food- which can be eaten in or taken out. In the center, thick fir trees grow along the inner wall that backs the tavern, helping to muffle the sounds and keep the sleeping areas quiet, even on raucous nights.

History

Before it was named so, a retired warrior who had been healed at the great temple owned the Round Rest Inn. When clergy felt a shiver of dark energy from the Green Fingers Range of mountains to the north and west of the temple, a cleansing expedition was mounted. Warrior was called upon to assist. What they found was the horror of the Blood Mountains. It was Warrior who found the dragon egg cradled beneath the wing of it's parent. He brought it home with him and displayed it in the inn. In short order the inn became known for the egg and was often referred as the inn with the dragon egg. Warrior embraced the notoriety and formally changed the name a few years later.   Fun fact, Round Rest Inn, was not even the first name. When built, the Inn was known as Astrid's Breast.
