Dune

Dune is one of the newer settlements to be constructed in Sirkaar. Prior to Alexander’s Wars of Conquest, the city was simply a small merchant trade post that acted as a way-station for those travelers venturing through the Red Mountains to the settlements of Sirkaar, or for Eru people journeying between the northern and southern portions of the kingdom. Now, the city has grown exponentially and serves as one of the major training grounds for new soldiers in the Sirkaar army.    The city maintains two active divisions of military personnel—roughly 30,000 soldiers—and is constantly instructing new recruits. Dune is both a training complex and the core of Sirkaarian society within the western portion of the kingdom. A sizable faction of the chivalric order the Knights of the Rose call Dune home, as many Sirkaarians view the goddess Alitta as their patron deity. Contests of skill and might are ordinary among the recruits and their instructors. Even the merchants come from tougher stuff and frequently partake. A sense of honor and pride fills the ranks here, brought on by the rivalry between the Kingdom of Sirkaar and the Stormgård Empire.

Government

While Dune is technically a military settlement under the watch of General Xior Ironmane, the queen has assigned a steward, Sora Myastan, to oversee the day-to-day intricacies of royal governance.

Industry & Trade

The military settlement is littered with many modest inns and taverns. While a few high-end and more luxurious establishments exist for those who have the coin, the majority of the businesses and offerings in Dune are rather austere due to the city’s isolated location and its primary purpose being a military training ground. Travelers and adventurers can easily find most basic supplies, as well as a number of more exotic and costly armaments and items within the markets of Dune.

Geography

The military establishment of Dune began as a modest trading post set upon a lonely mesa, not far from the Red Mountains. The growth of the city began following the Sirkaarian Liberation War. Currently, the city spans the entire mountain top and can be seen from miles away across the desert sands.
