Black Temple Monastery

Purpose / Function

A complex of ancient buildings providing housing, training grounds and libraries for a collection of interconnected monastic brotherhoods.

Alterations

A series of underworks have been blocked off, ostensibly for lack of need or use.

Architecture

Several multi-story buildings of the ancient style, including long staircases, enclosed with a curtain wall and an old low ziggurat all constructed of an exceptionally dense black stone. Interior walls of communal spaces are brightly painted, and often portray popular religious scenes. Sleeping chambers and meditation spaces are typically left unadorned.
