Clan Stonefury

Clan Stonefury and one of the Great Clans of The Dragonlands, they are known for their unyielding resolve and fierce spirit, grounded in the strength of their stoneworking heritage and relentless drive to protect their lands.

Culture

Clan Stonefury prides itself on discipline, honour, and unwavering commitment to the defence and prosperity of The Dragonlands. With a deep connection to the stone that surrounds Alonharl, their culture is one of resilience and craftsmanship. They believe that just as stone is shaped by careful chiselling, so too are their warriors and artisans shaped by rigorous training and perseverance.   Family is of paramount importance, with each generation instilled with a fierce loyalty to the clan and a duty to protect their ancestral lands. Clan members are trained in stonecraft and martial combat from a young age, and they celebrate hard work and dedication. Festivals and gatherings often revolve around physical feats of endurance, with competitions in both stone masonry and combat held regularly.   Though they value strength, they are also known for their wisdom and level-headedness. Clan Stonefury members often act as advisors to Alonharl’s leadership, respected for their thoughtful counsel and pragmatic approach to governance.

Public Agenda

Clan Stonefury publicly champions the protection and fortification of Alonharl. They push for increased defences, particularly in reinforcing the city's walls and watchtowers, which they see as a symbol of the city's enduring strength. They also advocate for responsible quarrying of the Northern Mountains, ensuring that their wealth of stone and minerals is carefully managed for the benefit of future generations.   The clan is also dedicated to maintaining law and order, often providing militia forces to protect the city from internal and external threats. Their goal is to safeguard Alonharl's legacy as the heart of The Dragonlands.

History

Clan Stonefury rose to prominence centuries ago when they were entrusted with the defence and fortification of Alonharl during a time of crisis. Their stone masons and engineers played a critical role in designing and building the towering walls that surround the city today. Their efforts saved the city during an invasion by a rival Dragonborn faction during the Siege of Alonharl, an event that cemented their status as protectors of the capital.   Notable among their ancestors is Agar Stonefury, a brilliant engineer and warrior who led the defence of Alonharl during the siege. His innovative designs for the city’s walls and battlements are still in use today, and he is remembered as a hero among his people.   Since then, the clan has continued to maintain the city's fortifications and has expanded its influence by controlling the stone quarries in the Northern Mountains, which have become a vital economic resource. Their role as guardians and advisors to the city’s rulers has also grown over the generations.

Foreign Relations

Alliance with Clan Ironclaw: Clan Stonefury and Clan Ironclaw share a strong bond, both seeing the value in traditional craftsmanship and military strength. The two clans frequently collaborate on large-scale construction and defence projects, with Ironclaw supplying metals and Stonefury providing stone.   Tension with Clan Drakerune: While not openly hostile, there is an underlying tension between Clan Stonefury and Clan Drakerune due to their differing approaches to leadership and governance. Stonefury views Drakerune’s emphasis on arcane power and diplomacy with some scepticism, preferring a more direct and grounded approach.   Respect for Clan Ashenshield: Clan Stonefury holds a deep respect for Clan Ashenshield, admiring their unyielding spirit and sense of duty. The two clans often cooperate in matters of city defence, and they share similar values regarding honour and protection.   Neutrality with Clan Shadowtalon: Stonefury maintains a neutral stance toward Clan Shadowtalon, viewing their espionage and secretive ways as necessary evils in the political landscape of The Dragonlands. Though they don’t fully trust them, they recognise the importance of Shadowtalon’s intelligence network and will occasionally exchange favours when it comes to city defence.
