Candle

Candles are a fire-based lighting source used in nearly all households across Etheriel. They are primarily used as a light source but can also be used to keep drinks like tea warm and to melt wax for wax seals.

Manufacturing process

The manufacturing process is dependent on the used candle-making process: casting, drawing, or rolling.
Casting
  1. Choose a candle mold or a container for the wax casting.
  2. Attach a candle wick with a piece of wax to the bottom of the mold or container.
  3. Attach a wooden wick holder to the other end of the wick to keep it straight in the pouring process.
  4. Melt a wax block and pour it into the prepared mold or container.
  5. Let the wax cool on the cooling rack and detach the wooden wick holder. The manufacturing process would end in this step if a container were used instead of a mold.
  6. Disassemble the mold to remove the finished candle from it.
Drawing
  1. Attach a candle wick to a wooden wick holder.
  2. Melt a block of wax.
  3. Immerse the wick in the wax and hang it from a cooling rack until it is completely cooled down.
  4. Follow the next four steps in a steady rhythm until the candle has reached the desired thickness.
  5. Immerse the wick in the wax.
  6. Pull the wick quickly out of the wax.
  7. Drain the access wax into the melting container.
  8. Let the candle cool down shortly.
  9. After the candle reaches the desired thickness: Hang the candle from the cooling rack and let it cool completely.
  10. Detach the wooden wick holder and trim the wick to the right length.
Rolling
  1. Cut the wax sheets to the wanted height of the finished candle.
  2. Immerse the wick in molten wax and hang it from a cooling rack until it is completely cooled down.
  3. Warm the sheets to prevent breaking in the rolling process
  4. Roll the sheet tightly around the waxed wick until the candle has reached the desired thickness
  5. Cut the remainder of the wax sheet and fix the end to the candle with a wooden nail.
