The Mystic Munchies of the Chimera Chefs
The Mystic Munchies of the Chimera Chefs is a myth that revolves around cooking with hunted monsters. It was once a regular food source, especially in areas that got hit by an Aether Storm, but now more of a myth in most regions as many died during the hunt or because they poisoned themselves due to unsafe preparation of the hunted corpses. Although this is a myth to most parts of Etheriel, there are some areas where this is still a reality.
There are a few handwritten journals, in the style of field notes with detailed sketches of the respective monsters present within the Legacy Library that were found during archaeological expeditions by researchers from Mytarion but they are typically dismissed as work of fiction by most of the society as there aren't apparent evidence for such a cuisine and some of the described beasts, monsters and devious plants are extinct or at least weren't spotted for a long time.
Only a few people know the craft of cooking with monster flesh and loot without poisoning themselves. Those often come from a long lineage of so-called chimera chefs, where the knowledge and craft are passed down within the family.
Summary
It is said that some folks hunt monsters to eat them instead of only killing them to protect themselves and society from their dangers. The reason for which they are doing this varies from narration to narration. Sometimes, the mystic munchies are created to survive in otherwise inhabitable regions. In other stories, they are valued for their unique taste or their special composition of nutrients.
The only common thread among all of the told versions of this myth is that the monsters, beasts, and devious plants were cooked and baked into various common and unique dishes that are said to taste divine.
Date of First Recording
Early records and field notes of this cuisine date back to the end of the discovery ages. Most of the present exemplars can be found within the Legacy Library even though they can't be borrowed due to their historic value.
