If Ravyzza is hiding out with the old man, I certainly don't envy her. When the old man gets on a tangent he can go for hours about some mold he found that can be used as both a sustainable fuel source and if ya boil it long enough can work as either a nutrient rich fertilizer or a protein-moderate foodstuff.
Xetto's a huge fan of teachable moments and long winded explanations about neat nature stuff. Sounds fun in moderation but while he's an expert in his field, he's also hellbent that everyone else learns how to be too. While it's not the official reason, a lot of his non-Santho assistants certainly didn't stick around long.

Academia
Xetto studied the Jhoutaioan oceanic and coastal ecosystems of the western end of Khathoum at its premier university on the topic, and directly learned from Monoliths how to take part in the ongoing restoration of Khathoum from war-beaten hellscape to lush jungle once more. During this time, he helped engineer new Genestruction variants of creatures to make them hardier and more capable of pollution filtration.

Restoration of Antha's Links
On Jhoutai, Xetto gathered some acclaim for his work in restoring Antha's Links, which had been damaged by the Aempian Siege of Verra. This feat is what ultimately put his family on the map, and made him a Grandmaster within the Survivalist's Guild.
Prospecting Br'rvaGishani
With the blessing of the Survivalist's Guild, Xetto prospected several Outer Worlds on the behalf of his family, tel Rakuni, before finally discovering a section of Br'rvaGishani which he appraised to be appropriately undervalued and something that he uniquely was capable of restoring.
Bid on the Strasya Atoll
Great Sacrifice
As part of the bid, Xetto would be required to give up his Sathiidism and become IdSathiid. Where before he enjoyed the regenerative effects of Sathiidism, Xetto has drastically aged in the nearly 50 years spent settling Strashya since.

I'm older than I've ever been. And more tired. And more angry.
This is my island, dammit!
