Grand Judge Faeynlin Arcosis (a.k.a. The Holy Spear)

The Grand Judge. The Living Saint. The Holy Spear. The Strongest Immortal. The being that stands closest to Godhood is the former companion and closest friend of the Emperor who is also one of the last living members of the retinue that challenged the Final Trial alongside him. She is the original and current leader of the Imperial Judiciary and as a result holds significant power as part of the Triumvirate that rules over the Empire currently with complete command over every single Judge that exists. She is said to be ruthless and emotionless in her actions, a consequence of a long life coupled with the deaths of her companions over time, but in fact can get very emotional when reminded of her old companions and has been known to be forgiving towards those who remind her of her comrades. Currently she is the only being alive who is permitted to converse directly with the Emperor himself, in whatever form that may take, and passes on his edicts to the other Imperial branches.

Personal history

Born into a noble family in the Kingdom of Acrea Faeynlin was trained from a young age to be a warrior in service to her King and the Crown Prince. Her rise up the ranks was considered nothing short of legendary and it was said she only met her match when she sparred with the man who would one day become the Emperor. Well known as an invincible warrior it was no surprise that she accompanied the future Emperor everywhere, becoming one of his closest friends and advisors, and joined him on many of his Trials as they both climbed the tiers of Immortality. She travelled the world helping him forge a band of allies from all the greatest warriors in the world which at its peak consisted of over twenty tier four Immortals. Their adventures are the stuff of legend today as together they slew the mightiest of Divine Beasts, defeated the greatest of villains and discovered the most mysterious of secrets the world had to offer.
It is believed that she was the one who discovered the location of the Final Trial and also the one who persuaded the group to take it on and so they faced the most lethal challenge of their life. No one except the group and maybe those who failed after them could say exactly what they faced in that crucible other than that it took years to complete and resulted in the death of all but seven of the Emperor's companions, including herself. Only the Emperor made it past the final stages of the Trial, the others had either failed or been too injured to continue, and so only he ascended to Godhood while the others, living and dead, would become known as the Imperial Saints. They were legends before but now at the word of the newborn Living God they would become more than they ever had been.
The Emperor's new power came with clarity of purpose and so he set out to conquer the world with his Saints at his side.During this time it was said that her spear was as a lightning bolt, crashing out from the tempest of power that was the Emperor to strike down his foes. None could resist her strength save the Emperor himself and her authority over the crusading force was second only to his. She fought in countless battles, brought about innumerable victories and conquered vast lands in his name. When the Empire's reach had gotten too large for the Emperor to personally control efficiently, she was the first choice to lead his new Judiciary and none would offer up even the suggestion of an alternative. She, along with her fellow Saints, would eventually stand victorious as the Emperor declared victory when the final city surrendered to his rule.
The Golden Age of the Empire brought about dramatic changes for Faeynlin as she had no more battles to fight and had to settle into her new role as a leader in an empire at peace. She served faithfully in this role and while she was never much of an adviser on political matters she was still able to act as the Emperor's oldest friend and assist him where necessary. Her voice was one of the most cautious about the emergence of the Wanderer millennia later, nervous about the potential threat to the Emperor's rule, but was overruled by the more optimistic view of the Emperor when she called to eliminate the upstart before any damage could be done. The events of the Cataclysm would have a profound impact on her, being the only one to know what state the Emperor was in afterwards, hardening her resolve to crush any dissident elements in the wake of the disaster.
Faeynlin found herself having to take on a large number of roles in the Emperor's absence, having command of both the Judiciary, Army and a lot of the Empire's more political aspects. The rebellions that kept breaking out further stretched her abilities to the breaking point until the formation of the Triumvirate finally allowed some of the responsibility to spread to others.This allowed the Empire to finally stabilise somewhat and let Faeynlin focus on matters of war where she excelled. During the Second Unification War and the Grand War she once again proved why she was the Emperor's second in command as her actions were instrumental in maintaining the unity the Empire had left as well as conquering back territory that was lost. During the Grand War she even became the only Saint to face the Slayer in battle and live despite losing the confrontation in a technical sense. She was also the largest critic of the Oshen Peace Accords, seeing even a temporary peace as a betrayal of the Emperor.
Currently she has withdrawn from the day to day management of the Empire, focusing only on her work with the Judiciary in order to advance the Emperor's goals. She is only seen at the most major public events spending most of her time in the Imperial Palace but even absent is considered the most powerful Immortal alive by most and many opposing nations still fear the potential that her spear may one day be pointed in their direction. Until then her influence is only seen in the actions of her Judges, brutal and necessary just as she wishes them to be.
