Plot points/Scenes
Lore; they are met by the dwarves they get to learn about the tower and its history from the dwarven perspective and are welcome to rest and eat,
Exploration; they explore the tower seeing things for themselves and if they choose to travel either down to the town or up to the further floors or simply stay where they are and explore to their hearts desire before resting for the night, they may be able to find useful resources or people.
Picking a side (assume its the dwarves
situation A; if they decide to travel down they will be met by an elf who attempts to grab their attention and speak with them away from the dwarves persuading them onto their side, once the conversation is concluding the dwarves will find them (assuming they haven't taken good precautions to hide) and a confrontation will break out between the elves and the dwarves if it can't be deescalated (DC 14 persuasion assuming starting friendship levels) they can choose to fight either side whenever side they attack will become hostile to them and I can use an encounter from 5e.tools (also listed above for backup), once the confrontation ends the dwarves wish to take you further to the village, which you find in ruin as the battalion has already passed by while you were chatting with the elves, the elves wish for you to assist the battalion in destroying the tower or simply take the seed from them and return it to the elves (they may lie and say that the seed has holy purposes to the elven people and it was stolen by the battalions). Situation B; if they decide to stay they will be attacked by the bow battalion in the night the first volley of arrows will deal 1d4 fire damage, during this attack Holy battalion 1 will travel up the stairs with the seed they have torches and are clearly visible, a dwarf approaches them before the conflict begins blaming the adventures for the attack "you brought them here why after we fed and sheltered you you didn't even think to warn us, etc", the party will need to chase down the Holy battalion 1 before they reach the top of the tower they can regain the dwarves trust by defending the town in which Mason will send them to stop Holy battalion one from planting the seed, Situation C; if they decide to head up they will be confronted by the carpenters with a limited way to communicate they can turn hostile quickly, they will either need to defeat them and steal their supplies to survive the night or go with them and live with them for the night. they are woken up in the night by the carpenter on guard shaking them awake there are faint sounds of screams and plate mail along with a small light in the distance (holy battalion traveling up the tower). battalion 2 will fight them if they try to engage while the holy battalion travels further, Chasing the holy battalion they have to chase the battalion up the tower if they have not yet dealt with Battalion 2 they will have to get past them with violence or stealth and if they move too slowly bow battalion will catch up from behind and attack. how the chase runs mechanically; each day they can travel at sprinting speed (34~ floors, 2 days) , marching speed (22~ floors, 3 days to floor 500) , or walking/sneaking (16~ floors a day, 4days to floor 500 ). if they sprint they will be caught off guard by a trap from battalion 2 but then catch if they continue to move at sprinting speed they will catch up to the holy battalion in which case if they defeat them Lucifel will flee on a summoned steed and he will be met on the top floor, if they march they will be confronted by the battalion 2 who try to slow them down as much as possible if they choose to sneak they can attack the battalion 2 who went looking for them or simply get past them. The final fight once on floor 500 they will have to fight the holy battalion to stop them from finishing the ritual when the battalion is defeated Lucifel will be possessed by an angel (gold stat block) and they will have to fight him or destroy/steal the seed by dealing 20 damage to the seed. Elf intervention (Bonus) elves come out to finish the ritual or steal the seed if we have time :P.
