Defences
One of the most well-defended cities in Mares, Flavian is surrounded by vast granite walls
History
While disputed, most Accish scholars agree that while Accland was founded upon the famed Handshake between King Ander and Prior Flavian, the actual city of Flavian was not named as such until 3 CE, when Prior Flavian left the bustling settlement to return to Lakeland Priory to the north. Before then, the city was known simply as the Capitol, or Ander's Square, where the handshake occurred. Over the years, Flavian benefited from the stable leadership of Ander and his descendants, and their savvy negotiations with their neighbors. It has survived three invasions from the Shallick States, as well as one from the Stratis Empire.
Architecture
Stone is the predominant building block of Flavian, made famous for its large, fortified walls that have withstood four invasions. Government buildings and Libraries inside the city are made with marble, as is the Vicarage, and the Accland Cathedral.
Geography
Set on the Plains of Gorem in the center of Accland, the area surrounding the large city is flat, but the temperate climate makes it suitable for farming. Directly to the north is the Gorem Quarry where much of the stone and marble used in the building of the city was mined. A canal system connects the city to the White River which flows south all the way to the Central Sea.
