Dragonturtle

These mighty creatures are living in the ocean of the Blackwater. They are distant descendants of an Ice-dragon, nesting on the southern shores of Utea.
Dragonturtles are quite intelligent amphibians, with large claws and strong, protective shells. Their primary colors are yellow, blue, and red.

Dragonturtles are predators, hunting sharks, large fishes, octopuses, and squids. They nest on the sandy shores but rarely leave the ocean.
They mate only every few years. The females lay 10-15, 30 cm tall, thick-shelled eggs in the shallow burrows. The eggs will hatch after two moon cycles. Some of the beach predators plunder these nests. The Saltwater Crocodiles looking for these burrows to lay their own near them. Since the small crocodiles hatch sooner, they can feast on the dragonturtle eggs. If the turtles hatch earlier, the crocodile eggs will be their first meal.
The hatchlings are around 20 cm long, curious but a little wild, and tend to bite anything. They grow fast and become fully developed at age 15.

The Rolfish tribe collects the eggs of the tribe's turtles and places them in the Hatchery, to protect them from predators. If the Hunters found other nests around the village, they take those eggs too. Unsupervised, wild younglings can cause serious damage to both marine life and the town.
The tribe teaches the turtles to be allies and companions of the Segaii, and how to live, hunt, and work together. Their great strength is used as rafts for fishing, delivering goods to Vrikdarok on the ocean, and protecting the town from invaders, pirates, and even tides, as the giant turtles line up like a dam in the harbor.
Segaii use the remained eggshells to make dishes from them. They make armor and other protective gear (like the ones on the Dustrunners ) from the dead creatures' shells.
