Mother of the Woods

The Grove is run by the council of druids, but their work is coordinated by the oldest, wisest and - as a tradition in honor of the Dragon Goddess - a female Greendragon. She is the protector of The Grove, the last refuge of the Council and all the lives its protects. When a great danger threatens The Grove or the protected areas, the Council rarely but can choose to engage in combat whit its source, be it a Fire-dragon or an over-hunting Segai tribe. Recently they also have trouble with the cultists. In such cases, the Great Mother has the final say on whether to initiate an attack or counterattack.
The greatest task of the Mother of the Woods is to take care of the Arboretum from which the region got its name. In this sacred place, all native plants of Damus live, from whose seeds and shoots the druids are able to plant back the burnt out or other way damaged areas.
The Great Mother can never leave this natural sanctuary, because her absence would endanger the security of The Grove. The presence of this Greendragon of great strength and wisdom keeps even the continent's Fire-dragons at bay. As for other outsiders, if strangers venture into The Grove, they will be judged primarily by their actions, their fate in the hands of the Mother. If they respect the sacredness of the jungle, the plats, the animals and all life, they can find shelter, healing, advice and food here. Otherwise however, they must flee from a raging Greendragon matron.
On an average day, the Mother of the Woods mainly takes care of the plants in the Arboretum with her druid helpers. In this case, she usually takes the form of a tall Elf woman, traditionally wearing a green or purple dress, and she is barefoot. She takes part in teaching the apprentices as well, whether it is about tending the garden or using fairy magic. It is her duty to listen to everyone and to provide advice and answers to her best of her ability.
