Tamere moss extract
Tamere moss is a plant that originally grows on the Elemental plane of Fire. It needs a draft-free humid environment to grow, but it tolerates both cold and heat well. When the inter-dimensional portal opened on Damus, the Firedragons accidentally carried some spores with them into to the Core. The moss began to grow in the deepest caves of the continent. Collecting the plant in its habitat is a difficult task, but some of the Bena elves and Bugits can obtain it.
The moss begin to dry immediately after being picked and is unusable after twelve hours. If the moss is crushed with a stone or a mortar, the green extract comes out. It is diluted 1:1 with cold water. The mixture emits a dim light, that provides the same lightning conditions as an ordinary torch.
Deep Gnomes of the Elemental plane of Fire use the extract for lightning, since they don't use fire (open flames are dangerous in their habitat, due to the inflammable gases that occasionally erupt in the depths).
The undiluted extract is neon-green in color, smells like apple cider vinegar, and tastes like plain black coffee. Its not poisonous, but it's not tasty either. The use of Tamere spread among the deep-dwelling peoples of Damus in the middle of the Second Era, but it was only in the Fifth Era that they began to be examined and utilized on Utea. Tamere extract is an excellent solution for lighting all industrial and laboratory environments where is an anti-magic field or where the use of an open flame would lead to an explosion. In addition, it can be a lifesaver for adventurers who have lost their way, if they recognize the moss.
