Bugits from Damus

The Bugits living on Damus are also creatures of Jurkirud, but they have adapted perfectly to the continent's unique climate. Their appearance is not as diverse as that of their counterparts living in the rest of the world (although there are tribes with similar characteristics in the Ilia Bay area). The Bugit beastman of Damus are humanoids, that walk upright on two legs, but their look like reptiles or amphibians. Most tribes are frog-like appearance, while others have turtle or snake features, such as shell or a poisonous bite. Among the frog-bugits, there are also those who are able to excrete poisonous secretion on their skin. In terms of size, they are only 60-90 cm tall and rarely exceed 10 kg (22 lbs) in weight. In their character, they do not differ from their congeners.

They live in tribes, in most cases, led by their best hunter. Occasionally a greater power - formerly Segai beastman or a Firedragon, and more recently the cultists from foreign lands - subjugates the Bugits, who lack of the strategic vision to free themselves from their tyrants. The size of the tribe depends mainly on the amount of food available. A shaman also lives in some tribes, he or she plays the roles of the healer, spiritual leader and seer, does not get involved in daily internal affairs or power struggles. The Bugits of Damus pray exclusively to Jurkirud, even if there isn't a religious leader in the group.

Bugits aren't the most intelligent humanoids, but they have their wits, their instincts are sharp and they adapt flexibly to situations. They are experienced and skillful hunters, they navigate well in the wilderness, they are able to make simpler structures - huts, rafts - and tools. Their weapons and armor do their job. They speak the Beast language, but most of them illiterate.

Bugits rather suffered the changes affecting Damus, they did not take part in the shaping of the continents history. At first they hid from the Surta elves, then the Segai beastman treated them almost like prey or food. After a while, they lived only in great hiding places: secluded backwaters, next to the swamp, deep caves, and after the Dwarves left the continent, they retreated to their abandoned cities. This way of life not conductive to development, even today they spend their daily lives in the way they learned at the time of their creation.
