Emera's Truth Seekers (Ee-mi-ra)

Culture

The Truth Seekers aim to be honest & good in all things.  They are often neutral in times of conflict and spend most of their lives simply searching for the truth without bias.  Once the Truth has been found/discovered, they spread that Truth to any who need to hear it through the Seekers of Truth (bards & clerics) who travel throughout Everall.

Public Agenda

Since finding out about the Hordes of Horrors, the Truth Seekers have sought to reach the whole world of Everall with the knowledge of what is to come.  They have also been a vital tool in spreading the tools for surviving the Horrors (Book of Tomorrow) and helping people to make the proper preparations.  Now that the Kaers have begun to unseal, the Seekers of Truth are spreading word that it is safe to return to above ground and what areas people are gathering in.

Assets

Renowned for the libraries and knowledge that has been gathered in the various temples, the Temples of Emera are often sought out for research purposes and assistance in other areas of knowledge that may have been limited during the time of the Horrors.

History

• Discovered through an oracle that the Hordes of Horrors were coming (Date?)
• Began spreading the foretelling to all known areas of the world (Date)
• Spread the Book of Tomorrow after Wyvernview Dwarves wrote it.
• A temple of Emera was installed in most Kaers and they became the caretakers of knowledge and often the library for those Kaers.
• As each Kaer became unsealed, the Seekers of Truth were sent out to find other Kaers and spread the word that it was safe to return.

Tenets of Faith

Lying or covering up the Truth is considered the ultimate sin.

Worship

Worship is accomplished through acts of devotion.  Truth Seekers must accept every opportunity to act according to the tenets of Emera.

• Minor acts of devotion - Any time the questor uses his talents, questor powers, skills, or other abilities to further the cause of the Truth in any way. Though special this reward may seem small, a questor who regularly performs minor acts of devotion in accordance with the Emera’s ideals and powers will accumulate Devotion Points quickly. Example: Ease someone's suffering
• Major acts of devotion - The questor performs an act of devotion that involves time or effort, but does not actually put him in any danger.  Example: Reveal a falsehood
• Zealous acts of devotion - An act of devotion that puts him at risk while personifying Emera's ideals. This risk does not need to be physical. For example, a Truth Seeker might risk a large sum of capital in researching/exploring a potential historical site. If the risk could potentially uncover lost knowledge, Emera would take notice and reward the character.

Quest: As opposed to the other acts of devotion above, a quest is almost always imposed on the questor — a sacred task he needs to carry out for Emera. There are no hard and fast rules on how long a quest is—some are completed within a few days, others take an entire lifetime to complete. A quest may include any number of devotional acts, which are awarded separately from the final award for completing the quest.

Priesthood

The Reverend Mother/Father Superior guides the Truth Seekers and can commune directly with Emera.  The Reverend Mother/Father Superior is elected by the council of High Priests & High Priestesses of the Temples, and guides the Truth Seekers for life.  On rare occasions, the Council of High Priests/Priestesses can remove the Reverend Mother/Father Superior on grounds of heresy or as a penalty for certain grave offenses.  While this has not happened in recent documented history, there are laws in place should such action be necessary.

Sacred Librarians are often sought after for advisors by the ruling leaders of Everall.  While the The Reverend Mother/Father Superior is often treated as a visiting ruler/leader with all the honors due to one of that status.
