King of Rivenar

Since the Formation of the Kingdom of Rivenar in 2653 there have been 9 who have held the title of King of Rivenar. The Kingdom of Rivenar is a Feudalistic Nation certain families rule each settlement or region and hold titles of Nobility. The King is the highest Rank among the Nobility titles of Rivenar.
Heredity and Bloodline are the first and primary considerations to be crowned King of Rivenar How closely are you related to the current or past kings determines a pecking order of whom may assume the throne. Land and Titles can only be awarded by the king but being of Noble blood and owning land puts you on the Council of Lords in the Kingdom of Rivenor. Historically in Rivnar's Past, there have been no Females Crowned as Queen of Rivenar Every successor was a Male child or relative of the King.
A king of Rivenor must speak and consult with his Council this has been set down in law since the formation of the Kingdom of Rivenar. High Hall in the city of Dunland is where the King Holds Court at the end of each season or calls special meetings for Lords to attend to affairs of the kingdom.
The King of Rivenar is to hear the advice of his lords and ladies at court and render decisions based on their advice and what is best for the Kingdom although in Rivenar's 300 Plus year History, this has not always been the case. Kings of Rivenar have always managed to Hold Seasonal Court since the founding of the Kingdom.

Qualifications

Bloodline of Direct kinship or through Marriage to past Kings of Rivnar. There are established bloodlines.

Requirements

The Successor must be able to derive their bloodline from that of the king. Before a successor or potential successor can assume the throne they must have completed martial training as a Squire and training with the Kings Master at Arms as the King of Rivenar is also the Lord Protector of the kingdom and must lead the Nations Armies.

Appointment

The Title of King of Rivenar comes First through Direct Succession of the Bloodline of the current King. The Bloodlines of each noble Family are weighed by the ruling King and the Royal Scribes' records. In General, the Pecking Order may go something like this.

1. The King 
2. 1st Born of the King (Son then Daughter) Progressing down the rank at birth
3. The Spouse/Widow of the King
4. Brothers or Sisters of the King
5. Children of the Brother or Sister to the king
6. Children of the Spouse/Widow of the King (Outside the Marriage)
7. Kin who can trace lineage and Bloodline to the Existing or any Prior king.

Duties

1. The King of Rivenar must hold meetings of the lords at the end of each season and hear out the concerns of his lords. 
2. The King is Lord and Protector of Rivenar and must lead the nation's Armies into battle or if too feeble appoint a Lord Protector.
3. The King must act as a Judge when a Noble Lord or Lady is charged with a crime and brought before the council of the lords.
4. The King Appoints Noble Titles and grants Land or Property, Money, and official titles within the Realm.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the Protection of the Kingdom through command and oversight of the armies of Rivenar in conjunction with his serving Lords.
The King is Responsible in fostering and Nurture of his successors to ensure the prosperity of Rivenar.
