Khalis

Demographics

Partially due to its size and partially to do with the proximity to the politically-charged capital of Andrala, Khalis' population is entirely human. The only non-human races seen are usually merchants, diplomats or travelers.

Defences

Watch Towers, Small guardsmanship.

Industry & Trade

Khalis is most known for their grain milling and long-running family of smiths.   Mason   Tailors   Weavers   Woodcarver   Blacksmiths Boris ‘Boar’ Smith Divorced; Now a single father to Julie Julie Smith Blacksmith’s Daughter   Butcher   Carpenter   2 Farmsteads

Infrastructure

The Millers

One of Khalis' staple exports is processed grain and flour. This is all done at the riverside watermill run by the Millers.

Fevan Miller

The Millhouse is in Fevan's name. Fevan is a minor noble of Khalis but works as a lumberer out of pure self-interest.

Peyter Miller

The most controvertial figure of the Miller family is Peyter. He is a somewhat self-indulgent teenager who has taken a very keen interest in the work of metalsmithing, specifically, redsmithing. Usually that is something to be praised, but when working in that field directly causes confrontation with the well regarded Smith family, that's where trouble begins to arise.

Irwa Miller

The true life-blood of the mill is Fevan's wife, Irwa. She almost singlehandedly runs the day-to-day operations of the mill, making her the true breadwinner of the family. As a result of her work, she is also a hobbyist baker.

Millie Miller

Millie is an innocent child and the youngest offspring of the Miller family. INteresting herself mostly in playing around just outside the mill, she doesn't stand very high in the low-end politics of Khalis. She has a pet cat named Tily that she (and her mother) took in as a stray.

White Baron Tavern

The humble White Baron Tavern, named after one of the Smith family (he was a dutiful whitesmith, giving him the nickname 'baron') after he died constructing the building, is a combination of watering hole and brewery. Their stable drink; Frost-Topped Stout is produced in-house and is only sold in the establishment and at a premium in the nearby 'Sunken Norwellan'. It can be purchased at around 5 roses on a good day. The establishment is run by the reputable 'Reginald', an ex-noble of some far-off town that he refuses to name, he is commonly seen as a comedic figure, but is respected well enough in hus business.   Jeweler   Locksmith   Ranger Indran

The Sunken Norwellan

On the bank of the FrostMist river stands a lodge-like tavern and inn run by one Tyrell. The Sunken Norwellan boasts quality booze with a pleasant evening backdrop from a riverside balcony. In truth, a large portion of their ale ans beer comes from the nearby White Baron tavern and is sold at a premium, typically a sovereign per mug. It was named in honor of Vertixico a Norwellan dwarf from the Imperial homeland when he was dared to swim across the river in a drunken stupor. He died.
