Jaily was born in the poorer parts of Kymal. Her father raised her alone, her mother died to plague. She was an exceptionally gifted child in understanding the nature of the world around her, and despite a rough upbringing and some run-ins with the law, she caught the eye of an Expositer of the Cobalt Soul at age 13 and joined their ranks. She took to her new position with reckless abandon, burying her face in books. She has considered joining the Lyceum someday, or even a less prestigious, private mage college, if she can save up her meager payroll.
She was bitten and turned into a vampire in the Bargewright inn in 820 PD.

Ulrich and Jaily have long been friends, they have diametrically opposed views on the role of nobility in an ideal society.
