Bane and Asmodeus conspired to transform Bane's loyal dranassar into goblinoids. Asmodeus betrayed Sarenrae, after which Erathis and Melora battled Asmodeus and Bane on what is now called the Barbed Fields.

Bane and Asmodeus conspired to transform Bane's loyal dranassar into goblinoids. While Bane conducted his ritual, Asmodeus guarded the Ashkeeper Peaks. Sarenrae requested safe passage from Asmodeus, who agreed, but when the Everlight and her forces congregated in the mountains he ambushed and destroyed them.   Outraged, Erathis and Melora battled Asmodeus and Bane on what is now called the Barbed Fields.
