From the creation of the world to the Age of Arcanum
When the gods blessed their mortal creations with arcane magic to survive a brutal world, civilization flourished. Mages and archmages achieved magnificent feats yet to be replicated in the modern age, one even going so far as to ascend to godhood. This period is referred to with the abbreviation Q.R., which is derived from the elvish term quel re, or "good day".
Inspired by the Raven Queen's ascension, the archmage Vespin Chloras of Vasselheim sought power and guidance from the Betrayer Gods, eventually freeing them from their extraplanar prisons.
Asmodeus was released in Avalir. The Ring of Brass thwarted his attempt to release two primordial titans from their prison beneath Mount Ygora but destroyed the Tree of Names that sealed them away, instead transporting them to the Astral Sea. Furious about the loss of his allies, Asmodeus smote the city, sending it plummeting into Cathmoíra and Mount Ygora. The impact was magnified by Avalir's vast stores of aether, and the resulting explosion decimated the entire continent of Domunas.
The Storm Lord impaled the Spider Queen with his thunderspear, pinning her to a cliff face before her soldiers could see their first battle.
The Betrayer Gods assaulted Vasselheim in a battle that lasted twenty days and nights. Though the Betrayers were ultimately repelled, the battle took a significant toll on the forces of Vasselheim and the Prime Deities.
Torog and his followers tunneled beneath a woodland in the Cyrios Mountains that was home to reclusive elves who worshiped Sehanine, sinking the plateau into a valley. Torog's servants sapped the life and color from the trees at their roots, creating the Pallid Grove.
Bane and Asmodeus conspired to transform Bane's loyal dranassar into goblinoids. Asmodeus betrayed Sarenrae, after which Erathis and Melora battled Asmodeus and Bane on what is now called the Barbed Fields.
All the deities momentarily struck an armistice to strike down the flying city of Aeor, which had developed weapons to kill gods, and the gods' combined might managed to crash but not destroy the city. During this battle, Corellon's right hand, the solar Xalicas, was struck blind and fell into the Greying Wildlands, where she lay wounded for several centuries.
A battle between Corellon the Archeart and Gruumsh the Ruiner was held at a then-unnamed hill along the Ironseat Ridge. According to various myths, when Corellon pierced Gruumsh's eye, the Ruiner's blood rained down and mutated the elven Horselords of Laphithas who rode into battle to aid Corellon. Some were fused with their horses and became the first centaurs, while others were transformed into the first orcs.
The original Cerberus Assembly tore Desirat, phoenix mount of Asmodeus, from her master and bound her beneath Mount Mentiri for study.
Zehir ambushed Melora near one of her shrines in a valley along the Menagerie Coast. The ambush poisoned and killed a great number of Melora's followers, and her anguished scream created the tortuous, thorny Lushgut Forest.
The Raven Queen's black-winged angels saved her from a near-fatal run-in with Tharizdun, but were all consumed in the process.
In one of the last battles of the Calamity, Melora and her Free Children battled Bane and his goblinoid legions, this time on the Beynsfal Plateaus of the Rifenmist Peninsula, where Bane was defeated and his armor was scattered across the region.
The Prime Deities and their greatest champions, including Alyxian, defeated the Betrayer Gods' forces at the Betrayers' Rise near Bazzoxan, an instrumental temple-stronghold protecting Ghor Dranas, allowing the Prime Deities to reach the walls of Ghor Dranas. This is now known as the Battle of the Barbed Fields.
The final battles of the Calamity occurred at the Barbed Fields, ultimately razing Ghor Dranas. These battles also sundered the mountain range dividing Wynandir, creating the Brokenveil Bluffs and separating the range into the Ashkeeper Peaks and the Dunrock Mountains.
To protect their surviving mortal creations, the Prime Deities forged the Divine Gate and banished themselves and the Betrayer Gods to the realms beyond it, locking all divinity from direct access to the Material Plane.
Emperor Manfried redirects rage over internal conflict outward and wages war on the Julous Dominion over 16 months, eventually subjugating them and bringing them into the empire.
The Chroma Conclave attacks Emon, seizes control of Tal'Dorei, and is eventually brought down by Vox Machina.
When the Chroma Conclave unleashed its assault across Exandria, the floating cities of Draconia were brought crashing down.
A team of heroes known as the Champions of Merit followed a vision across Xhorhas and below Ank'Harel. There they discovered a rift to a demiplane called the Netherdeep, where a hero of the Calamity, Alyxian, lay imprisoned. The Champions rescued Alyxian and returned him to the Material Plane to live out the remainder of his days among the descendants of the people he saved.
