John, Count of Mortain
Count John Plantagenet (a.k.a. Lackland)
John is the youngest son of Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine, and was his father's favourite after his brothers rebelled against their father in the Young King's War.
While his elder brothers were given lands and titles early, as the youngest John was not expected to inherit significant lands, hence his early nickname, John Lackland. Subsequent grants from his father and brother Richard the Lionheart have long since made up for that early lack, and John is one of the most powerful men in the British Isles.
