Caddell Griffith is summoned to Rizfeld's office and learns of a threat made against his daughter who is studying in Candlekeep. Korvix Norixius reveals that his employeer, Elminster, believes Caddell Griffith's daughter might be a chosen of Mystra.   Caddell Griffith, FeatherFace , and Nimbus head to Suzail to acquire teleportation to Candlekeep and arrive to meet Elminster and Caddell's daughter.   Stella "The Frozen" Sheethnae and Ebony Gray join up with a knight by the name of Alexander Werner who reveals he was hired to transport materials from Marsember to Wheelon and along the way learned they were transporting a mysterious white powder within boxes marked with a purple circle. They also meet a mysterious and beautiful red-headed woman on their trip to the Society of Stalwart Adventurers offices who claims to be hunted by orcs and Sharrists.

The next morning, Caddell Griffith, receives a sealed message from Rizfeld Halfmoon, the Alaphorn of Marsember. The message urgently requests Caddell Griffith to meet him at his office. They meet in private and Rizfeld informs Caddell that his daughter received a severed head of a monkey in an unmarked package left on her dormitory bed in Candlekeep. He goes on to explain that the authorities believe this was a threat made by cultists of Malar, but luckily his daughter has no idea of the implied threat and simply believes one of her classmates had played a nasty prank on her.   While Caddell was meeting with Rizfeld, Korvix Norixius arrives at the Inn to speak with The Bucket Brigade. He informs the party that the leader of the organization he is a part of, The Harpers, informed him that he may have discovered a chosen of Mystra. He explains that his leader, Elminster the sage, believes that Caddell's daughter is very likely a chosen of Mystra.   Caddell eventually returns from his meeting with the Alarphorn and returns to the inn with a riding horse. He grabs his belongings and explains he is riding out to Suzail to gain access to a teleportation spell which could take him to Candlekeep. Nimbus and FeatherFace decide to accompany Caddell to Candlekeep and gather their belongings as well.   While the three of them were hastily packing their bags, a knight by the name of Alexander Werner arrives at the inn looking for Caddell Griffith. Caddell busily brushes him off despite recognizing the man as a one whom he'd met several times previous when Alexander was still an active duty soldier in Purple Dragon Army. Caddell curtly greets the man, but immediately excuses himself and explains he is in a rush to get to Suzail due to some unforseen family emergency.   After Caddell, Nimbus, and Featherface depart for Suzail, Alexander explains to Stella "The Frozen" Sheethnae and Ebony Gray why he sought them out. Apparently he had recently helped guard a caravan travelling to Wheelon recently. Along the trip, one of the boxes had fallen out of the wagon and split open revealing the contents inside. The contents were a white powder and based on the reaction of the leader of the group, the powder was extremely valuable and possible illegal. He had heard about Caddell and The Bucket Brigade from Marsembians and wanted to enlist their help in undoing any wrongdoing he may have unknowingly partaken in.   Stella "The Frozen" Sheethnae and Ebony Gray immediately suspect that the white powder is Terazul and they eventually decide to check with the Society of Stalwart Adventurers in Marsember to see if the contract Alexander had taken on had any clues or leads to follow.   They head over to the office of the Society of Stalwart Adventurers and inquire with the clerk to see the paperwork he had on file regarding the caravan to Wheelon. Stella "The Frozen" Sheethnae is surprised to see a signature that claims Caddell Griffith was the person who put in the request for adventurers to help protect the caravan. She immediately suspects the signature is a forgery based on the handwriting and casts sending to Caddell Griffith to inform him of the information they had recently gained.   Once outside the office, a stunningly beautiful young woman with bright flame red hair approaches them from across the road. She explains that she is in search of adventurers to help her, but is unable to afford the cost of the Society of Stalwart Adventurers to hire people. She explains she was hoping to run across some altruistic types who might help her without any certaintly of reward or pay upfront. She promises them that in the end, she will reward them, but is extremely vague as to what said reward would be. She also explains how she used to be a professional borrower of sorts, but one day awoke with flaming red hair and a change of heart towards her previous profession. She claims she and her travel companion were being hunted down by a group of people known as the Shadowvar and a tribe of orcs. Her companion was in possession of an evil artifact which no one else could safely touch and they would very likely need to escape from Marsember within the next couple of days.   Alexander and Stella "The Frozen" Sheethnae find themselves mysteriously drawn to the woman's plight and offer to help her as best they can. They tell her to bring her companion and meet them back at The Old Oar Inn the next day. She thanks them for their kindness and tells them her name: Joelle Emmeline.
