The Spice War

The Spice War was a short war between The Civilized West and inhabitants of The Wild South living in the Chultan Peninsula as a result of Calimport's attempt to annex the peninsula. The war had nearly been won in its third year, until a naval Caliport Naval Captain named Brenna Fint sabotaged her own city's fleet in order to 'even the odds' in the name of Bahamut, the God of Fair War. Due to the sabotage, Calimport was forced to pull its troops from Chult, allowing its citizens to remain independent from the Civilized West. However, Calimport retains a moderate presence in Chult within the port of Zi'teli.
