Session 3: The Cabin in the Snow

General Summary

(Note: Written many weeks after the fact. For that reason, it is not very detailed, and some things will have been forgotten).   Our heroes are determined to deliver the supplied to Macreadus on behalf of Copper Knobberknocker as they promised. Having arrived The Black Cabin in the previous session, they continue to explore the obviously ruined structure.   Baradin, despite earlier cautiousness, falls through the floor of the main room but manages to rescue himself in the nick of time. The main room seems to be the site of an explosion. At its epicentre are some skeletal remains, a charred notebook, and a small gyroscope-like device.   After exploring the remainder of the cabin, the ghost of Macreadus makes contact, and our heroes come to understand that they need to complete the device, which has the power to control the weather and free Icewind Dale. After some tinkering, the device is completed, and Lirin, with some trepidation, uses it to clear the weather. It works, and the weather improves dramatically. Our heroes return to Termalaine.   While leaving the cabin, they are attacked by a strange being - what appears to be pure light dressed in cold-weather gear.   On returning to Termalaine, our heroes are pleased to find that the town has accepted the Kobold miners. However, Trex's personality has completely changed. He is no longer articulate and urbane, and he no longer sports the satchel he habitually carried. Lirin has Tatters track the scent of the satchel to the house of one of the town's guards - a man called Orin Steelshield. Orin has left town, headed east into the tundra.
