Varu (VAR-oo)

A small settlement started by a group of Orcs from Kirukh , looking to expand their borders. This settlement, now abandoned in ruins, found itself under a fierce attack. All were killed or made to flee. Most of this settlement was burned to the ground. Little remains of this would-be expansion.

Demographics

Small Orcish settlement

Government

Ruled over by the Kirukh  across the Angusta Sea.

Defences

Villagers use the landscape as best as they can as natural defense. Many of the population are fighters and defenders.

Industry & Trade

These orcs survive by trading with nearby humans, and some supply runs to their capital city.

Infrastructure

Aside from basic housing structures, and trading posts, a water source was dug, and roads were made of dirt.

Assets

None to speak of, other than the villager's ingenuity and skill.

Guilds and Factions

Started by a group called Tribe Obsidian. A faction tasked with expanding borders via exploration.

History

Ordered by the Overseer of their capital city, the Tribe Obsidian was sent to find a new place to settle in the continent just over the Angusta Sea. They settled a small village, and began trading with humans. Originally tasked with taking over the human settlements, they quickly found they needed their trade and commerce to survive, and developed a relationship with the humans. After a few years, the Overseer became irritated that they were befriending the humans, and making no effort to take over. The Overseer arranged an attack on a human village without the knowledge of anyone in Varu. The humans took a major hit, but ultimately fought back the the orcs. In an act of retaliation (not knowing where the attack originated), the humans attacked, and slaughtered everyone in Varu.

Points of interest

A, now abandoned, orc temple stands to the west of the settlement.

Tourism

At it's height, there was no tourism, but they did develop a good relationship with the Humans of Aavonshir. They had frequent visits back and forth.

Architecture

Mostly wood and and brick buildings with thatched roofs.

Geography

Somewhat baren, but slightly greener than the orc's homeland. A small village butts up against a mountain and a forest. This provides fresh water and plenty to hunt.

Climate

Climate is temperate. Mild summers and winters. Lots of rain in the spring. Snow usually starts the last month or so of winter.

Natural Resources

Forests for hunting, and some fields for cultivating grain and vegetation. Many natural springs flow from the mountains nearby, providing fresh, clear water.
